London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇 Kilburn 🍺 £6.00 Rothhaus Pilsner ❤️ A stunning North London pub with the most magnificent interior. . The Black Lion is located on busy Kilburn High Road and within a short walk from Brondesbury overground and Kilburn Tube stations. . This imposing pub was built in 1898 and is Grade II listed. . The interior of this pub is just stunning and retains many of its original period features. The decor here wouldn’t be out of place in a stately home or palace, I was simply in awe and couldn’t help but look around and marvel at the detailing and workmanship. The interior of this pub is also Grade II listed. . The beer choice is full of German and Belgium lagers and pilsners, there are also some homegrown IPA’s, cask, ciders and of course Guinness. After some advice by the knowledgeable barman I opted for a pint of Rothhaus Pilsner which was new to me and very agreeable. The food menu is Indian inspired and on Sunday’s, traditional roasts are available. This pub also offers accommodation and has twelve boutique bedrooms. . I visited at 5pm on a Saturday and it was quiet inside. There were a couple of punters in the dining area, a few in the bar and the majority were in the outside space on the left of the pub. The are regular live music nights running throughout the month. . The @blacklionkilburn is one of the most beautiful places I have ever drank a pint in. The beer, food and service here are first class which is everything you want from a pub. When the next person asks you “Do you fancy a pint?” Tell them yes and make your way here, Outstanding! . ℹ️ Information correct on visiting 30/07/22

I honestly cant fault this hotel at all. It is an absolutely stunning grade 2 listed building. Usually in older buildings despite best efforts old walls and fixtures begin to look worn but the rooms are honestly immaculate, nice and crips walls and tiles and so so clean. Downstairs the pub and restaurant is beautifully decorated but most of all the service has been second to none. Any special requests we’ve had have been dealt. Ive not had to wait to be seen even once. Everyone is polite and even the smallest details of service such as acknowledging us and saying hello if we walk through, carrying our cases, turning the teapot handle to me to use. We are celebrating a birthday so had a gorgeous note left in the room with fresh flowers. The soaps in the room are all rituals which is lovely. Bedding is fresh, crisp and white. No lose flitting or irritating little details. We still have another night but so far we are so impressed and can tell so much thought and effort has gone into everything. The area outside isnt amazing but is very easy for us to get quickly to anywhere we want to see in london with the tube being a 7 minuite walk away.

I wish the google place for this could be deleted and recreated because the previous bad reviews under old management are still there bringing the rating down. Bottom line - under new management and renovations, this is the best pub in the Kilburn area with great food. We’ve been living in the Kilburn area for over 7 years, we didn’t used to come here before because the staff were not nice and food was awful. As soon as the new pub opened, wow, it feels like they are family. The renovation makes the pub look great and cosy, the atmosphere is great, amazing staff who take care of you, and food is EXCELLENT!! We tried almost everything on the menu by now - best dishes: Wings, sweet potato fries, duck confit, aubergine, daal, kaddu curry. Everything tastes amazing, the only one I would stay away from is the ribs but honestly, this is a gem. Thanks to the staff and the managers who always welcome us with warmth.

First up we never leave bad reviews until this one. Where we get great service and experiences in accommodation we always do something positive. If we have a bad experience we just move on.|This one burns though. We are now back in Australia and I have had time to ponder whether it is worth the effort and this one is, especially as it is supported by 3 with similar themes to ours, one being a particularly heartless experience also.|These people have plenty of positive reviews so I am probably swimming against the tide. However our experience was so poor, it was implied that our intentions were less than honest, and this is the warning to other prospectives if things go awry like ours did. If I could have rated zero I would.|We were attracted to the Black Lion because their reviews were so good. In accommodation we look for location, cleanliness, friendliness and service. This place seemed to tick the boxes so we eagerly looked forward to it as the finish of a trip before returning home.|They will have their version of events, they can respond however they like, I really don’t care. We know exactly how things unfolded, what was said and what wasn’t said. Their communication is abysmal.|About a month before our stay whilst still in Australia, we reconfirmed all of our stays and said we were happy to pay upfront prior to departure and to let us know. In this situation The Black Lion advised no, that their ‘secure payment gateway’ would take the funds from our supplied card 7 days prior to arrival. No worries there.|About 9 days prior to arrival we emailed the Black Lion and said we were also travelling with a Mastercard issued by our local bank which does not attract international fees, could we use that but stressed (twice as it turned out), if it was an issue, not a problem, leave the existing card in place to pay.|From 11 days prior to arrival there were easily sufficient funds in the account to cover payment using the original card supplied. As best as I can tell they tried to take payment 9 days prior to arrival. Their summation and the poor wording of what happened was so poor it is impossible to tell.|They cancelled the booking stating firstly they had previously advised us the payment had failed, which they hadn’t, and secondly they had sent us a link for another payment, they had not done this either. I was furious. We were totally blindsided by the whole debacle and our London stay was turned upside down.|This is the warning. We had no idea our payment had ‘supposedly’ failed. All this took place on the 7th day before arrival. They said they advised us a ‘couple of days’ prior. No such advice was received. They said they had sent us a link. They never did.|If they were able to walk the walk as their service implies, and truly made contact, this debacle would never have happened. And this is the real warning. If something does go pear shaped they will spit you out, you are just a number. I cannot tell what happened or why in this case, they certainly didn’t advise in any understandable way what happened, the funds were there for their ‘secure payment gateway’.|If they had an ounce of service credibility they would have followed up properly, with some customer interest, if in fact there was a problem. Blind Freddie could see we were genuine. The insult topped it off. Beware, their service on the accommodation side is skin deep. I cannot vouch for the pub side which attracts the reviews, but would certainly never set foot in the...
