UPDATE: I just found out, the lady who was serving us at till on purposely charged us for extra chips flavour! She asked us the common eating in/takeaway. She asked lamb/beef/chicken/mix. Then she asked meal or not. We said meal. She said flaming fries, cheese or curry.
After going to another GDK, they charge for flaming fries! So I had to remove one star from this review. I don't like it when clerks ask us what flavour, they should let customers KNOW if it is extra charge or not!
Covid-19 Pandemic (Second Wave) REVIEW
Recently refurbished/renovated store, quite small but can still make people eat inside. I've eaten of GDK at the Ilford branch 2016 and I really love the kebab, so I wanted to try GDK again.
There wasn't a big queue as most of the people waiting were delivery drivers. Placing the order was super easy with lots of options.
You pick the kebab you want, medium or large, beef, chicken or lamb; or if you want all mix. If it is a meal, you choose from 3 types of chips cheese, fiery or spicy. Eating or taking away is asked and then the kind of drink.
FOOD the kebab tasted very nice, I ordered for 2 original kebabs and 1 kebab wrap. The kebab tasted cold not extremely cold but not warm. My wrap tasted like normal kebab wrap, but original kebab taste very good. All 3 kebabs were mixed meat.
The chips were ok-ish, regarding the cheese chips which wasn't all that, or not enough added melted cheese. The firey chips were better in taste. All 3 chips were warm/hot.
Drinks were in can, like your typical coke, Fanta, sprite. You can get other drinks like red bull, but they charge £0.50p extra.
You also you get 3 different sauces, and by the way they were all tasty.
SERVICE service was OK, staff working in the kitchen and behind the till did their job ok. But I was not happy with the waiting time for our meal! Sure they had a lot of delivery orders but I waited for a long time. And by the time my food was given, kebabs were not hot. It felt like my order 67 was ready but was not called out to be collected.
Dining in tables were occupied so we ordered for take out, it took a while for a staff to clean the table, but I am glad they did with sanitising spray.
Also staff told us to scan the barcode outside the door for the NHS covid-19 app. Staff also supplied us forks and more napkins when we asked for some.
The plastic fork is also a very good quality fork! Hope it doesn't end up in the ocean after use :/
VENUE venue layout and aesthetic were very nice and new. Even the 2 meters protective plastics had the GDK logo. There was hand sanitiser spray, two but one of them currently works.
We wanted to come to this GDK branch in Kilburn but they were closed and under renovation. I am happy they are open but not enough space to dine in, and there had no bins provided. Some eating areas still under renovation.
It is kind of busy with delivery drivers as they kept coming and going.
PRICE Price is decent and affordable. Meal as in kebab with chips and drink cost £5.99- 7.99. While normal kebab alone is priced from £3.99 - 5.99. And it will fill you good!
I wasn't happy with the choice of large or medium kebab. Sizes for both of them are the same, however large apparently has more meat inside.
OUTCOME if you love kebab and want to try out a different way of served kebab, you NEED to try GDK. Two people I introduced to GDK were satisfied with the meal.
I would recommend original GDK kebab, that alone will impress you with look and taste.
I just hope they fix the waiting time for customers taking away or eating in! They seem to give priority to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at German Doner Kebab, and it was an experience that exceeded all my expectations. Located conveniently [kilburn], this gem offers a refreshing and delicious take on a classic favorite. Ambiance:- The ambiance is modern and welcoming, with sleek decor and comfortable seating that makes it perfect for both a casual meal and a more festive gathering. The place was spotless, and the staff were attentive and friendly, which immediately set a positive tone for the evening. Food: Now, let's talk about the food. The doner kebabs here are simply exceptional. I opted for the Original German Doner Kebab, and it was a flavor explosion. The meat, a perfect blend of beef and chicken, was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. It was clear that high-quality ingredients are a priority here.
The bread was soft and fresh, providing the perfect vessel for the meat and the array of fresh vegetables. The sauces were a highlight - creamy, tangy, and perfectly balanced, they complemented the kebab beautifully without overpowering it.
I also tried the Doner Durum wrap, which was equally impressive. The wrap was generously filled and grilled to perfection, with a delightful crispiness on the outside.
Sides and Extras: The side dishes deserve a mention too. The Doner Fries were addictive, crispy, and topped with the same delicious meats and sauces, turning a simple side into a mini-meal in itself. The salad was fresh and vibrant, providing a nice contrast to the rich and savory kebabs.
Value: The value for money is excellent. Portion sizes are generous, and the quality of the food makes every penny worthwhile. German Doner Kebab offers a fast-casual dining experience that doesn’t compromise on quality or taste.
Overall Experience: Overall, German Doner Kebab is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good food. Whether you're a doner kebab aficionado or new to this culinary delight, this place will not disappoint. It's clear that they take pride in what they do, and it shines through in every aspect of the dining experience. I can't wait to return and try more from...
Read moreThe previous time I ordered I thought it was a one off, but this time I got the confirmation: overpriced, bad food quality an sleazy service. I received cold food, and no extra veggie which I payed for. I also payed extra for feta cheese but received none. In fact, there was so little veggie in it, I found three leaves of cabbage and salad. I ordered beef for the doner but received mashed falafel. there was no sauce in it. I ended up paying 17£ for this including 3 extra sauces, the cold fries, service charge and delivery. That was the last time I order from This Brand.
and although customer service assures below, that this is not their standard, I can assure you , it is! I ordered once more and got the same issues. This time I called the shop to complain that I couldn't find my salad in the bread again, where are the onions and why is there one tiny slice of tomato only? I was told their standarxis a tiny slice of tomato and 10 gr of salad. when you purchase a doner in Germany they are not greedy at all with iceberg lettuce like this brand here is. it is ridiculous and they should change their name to fake German kebab or greedy kebab. that is the least amount of ingredients I ve seen in kebabs in london! to greedy for a good portion...
