Attended a birthday party upstairs over 2 floors. The mix of DJs played some good music. The bar management and bar staff need educating. You cannot expect to have approximately 300 punters which you knew about in advance and have only 2 bar staff on the middle floor and one on the top floor to serve people. The bar staff were like rabbits caught in headlights they were clueless, unprofessional, slow and stuck together as if they feared for their lives.
Why would you put 2 tills together instead of one at one end and the other till at the other end of the bar.
When you did manage to get a female to come to the left side of the bar as both bar staff congregated to the right where both tills were. If 2 people spoke their orders she left and went back to serving people to the right of the bar. Then she left to go and serve on another floor leaving one bar staff to serve the entire middle floor.
A young man then eventually came in the bar and did exactly the same thing. His excuse was he doesn’t know who's next to be served. Then he took your order then went and served someone else then eventually came back to serve you.
It took going thru the crowd to the middle to get served only to be told they had run out of draught Guinness and Courvoisier. They only use plastic pint cups to serve all drinks including a single shot with no mixer. A single shot being £7.50.
The girl who ran off and gad a radio in her back pocked was more worried about her ear piece. When she did come back into the bar it was to take bottles of drink to another floor.
There is no ventilation even though there are A/C units in the ceiling. I saw one male bar staff member try to open a window without success.
The disco or strobe lights cause headaches and can bring on an epileptic fit
Hiring this venue is not cheap nor cost effective. There is no value for money and management are making mugs out of people.
You cannot make up lost revenue from Covid by abusing punters .
Personally I think people should stop hiring this venue until management and the staff learn to respect the Black Pound and treat Black people with respect.
When we book your venue we expect you to honour the agreement/contract made ie if we agree the same music is played on both floors that's what we expect not the excuse that the cables required to do this are being used on the ground floor for the white peoples event. Buy another set of cables you are earning enough money off of Black People in order to give a much better service than what was provided on Saturday 14th January 2023.
Not impressed this is 2023 no excuse is good enough. Waiting 2+ hours to be served at the bar on a night out is ridiculous.
No lights in the female toilets on the first floor. Surely the staff should be checking the toilets before...
Read moreWitnessed a bizarre encounter between a Xenophobic woman and a group of tourists. They came in and tried to move a chair from a table so they could all sit together. There was no one sitting on this table, there was no reserve sign on this table and no jackets/coats, empty glasses or any sign of someone sitting there.
A random woman marched over and told them they couldn't move the chair as there was someone sitting there. As I said there wasn't, the table was completely empty for at least half an hour before this incident. She herself was sitting on the other side of the bar, playing pool, so why she got involved was beyond me. They were understandably confused and started chatting in their language (Finnish I believe.) The lunatic woman then came over and started shouting in their faces threatening them, asking them to not speak in French. They were not speaking French at any point. It's not clear whether the woman worked at the bar and was off shift, or possibly owned it, or just fancied taking her anger out at a group of random tourists because they had the audacity to bring money into her local economy and the temerity to not want to stand up whilst they drank to their £6 pint. The staff did not intervene at any point even though every single person in the bar was aware of this xenophobic abuse, and she said bye to individual members of staff as she left so they clearly know her personally. Within 10 minutes of her leaving, every chair at the table in question had been taken by various people.

Read moreMy friend was racially abused at this bar. He went to buy a drink for himself and as protocol suggests he was asked for his ID, however the brown haired lady at the bar asked him to replicate his signature on the ID as a way of verifying it however I have never EVER been asked to replicate my signature when I have showed my ID. She did blue light checks, she spoke with her manager, the validity of the ID was proven however she suspected my friend of being a liar. Last night I saw a pub full of white people who looked very young however they had ID so they were served, naturally. My friend is a black man and last night when we went to see some live music, this lady made us feel like we were wrong for being there. I simply wanted to make others aware this lady was hostile and racially abusive to my friend and I hope others can avoid her...
