šŸš‡Ā Euston šŸŗĀ Ā£5.21 Carlsberg A Newish Spoons. The Captain Flinders is located on busy Eversholt Street close to Euston train station. The nearest Tube is Euston which is just across the road. This Spoons opened in January this year in the former SophistiCats strip club. The Captain Flinders is named in honor of the Royal Navy explorer Matthew Flinders, whose remains were discovered during archaeological work at the Euston station redevelopment. Matthew Flinders is renowned for leading the first circumnavigation of Australia from 1801 to 1803 and is credited with giving the country its name. This is a compact one bar pub which feels small compared to your average Spoons. The left hand wall is tiled with photomosaics which I’ve not seen in a Spoons before. The rest of the walls are clad in wood panels with various pictures detailing the history of the area. At the rear of the bar is the servery which has a beautiful granite counter. A trip to a Spoons wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the carpet. The carpet has an eight pointed star which was the same detail on the great hall ceiling in the old Euston station. The beer line up was a broad mix of mainstream beers, ciders, Guinness and four cask ales. I decided on a Carlsberg, my pint was on point, price point was just over a fiver. The food menu is a vast array of pub classics, burgers and comfort food, Fish & Chips costs Ā£13.63 which includes an alcoholic drink, bargain! I arrived around 4.30pm as the light was fading on a Saturday afternoon in January. The pub was absolutely packed with pretty much every seat taken. The punters were a mix of young and old, locals and day trippers, the pub had a lovely buzz about the place. The service was great, the chap who served me was welcoming and courteous. It is always great to see a new pub opening, especially when so many are closing. Wetherspoon’s pubs can divide opinion, I myself am a fan. They provide the local elder generation somewhere that is affordable and provides a social hub to spend time in. The Captain Flinders, well worth a look. ā„¹ļø Info correct on visiting 20.01.24

First visit to this JD Wetherspoon pub and I was rather impressed! The security on the door were friendly and the staff inside were helpful too which was great to see. The atmosphere was lovely inside the pub and it had sockets and USB charging points which was amazing considering it is across the road from Euston Station! The menu offering was good and it has long opening hours, I was very happy with the visit. I would recommend this location to friends and family. For me it would be a perfect review but unfortunately the unlimited hot chocolate on the mobile app and menu was unavailable to order, a minor issue but a problem nonetheless. Otherwise a good visit! Thank you.

Having been a resident on Eversholt st for 30 odd years, I was curious to experience the New addition to the Spoons Chain The building where the Captain Flinders is situated Has always been (since I’ve lived here) was always a place where young girls danced & old men came to ogle šŸ˜‰ A strip club Secrets became Sophisticats and its now the Flinders…..

So, having watched the building go from being boarded up

Covid did that for so many places

To being done up and transformed I was looking forward to seeing the transformation

First off, I really imagined it would be a huge place & space.. It ain’t…

It’s really small for a spoons tbf….

The decor has been done tastefully with lots of historic facts dotted around place

I loved the artwork on the way downstairs to the loo

Not many spaces or chairs for those with physical challenges Majority of chairs in there were stools For me, waiting for another hip replacement I find those stools uncomfortable.. Me and my friend did find a table by the window with normal chairs Tho I did notice They were few and far between…

I have to say The staff were absolute treasures 🌟

The chips were great, my friend couldn’t eat her American burger

I enjoyed my chicken strip burger.. Tho I do feel, a lil side salad would make it look more appealing and should be included in the price…

I will be going back to see what the breakfast is like one day soon Don’t want to be all Negative Nelly in this review As it’s only just opened

Staff were wonderful...

Sunday 28th January 2024 Today, i had my first visit to this very new weatherspoons It without doubt is one of the smallest weatherspoons in England The locals were friendly and polite The staff were friendly and knew there job this 1 bar pub only has 1 bank of hand pumped ale on, but today the Arabica porter was delicious, i will be coming here again when around Euston Train Station Friday 26th July 2024 This Weatherspoons is a quaint small weatherspoons by London Euston Railway station, an acceptable range of beers I was served fast today by good staff The small weatherspoons were heaving People eating drinking I have downgraded my 5 stars on the last visit to 4 The reason this time there were too many tables with plates and relishes on of people's foods that have not been cleaned up. Been a smaller weatherspoons This affected tables we could sit at to drink our hand pumped beers Wednesday 26th February 2025 Today, . we had a good drink of hand pumped ale in this small weatherspoons There was a good selection/better than my last visit of guest handpumped ales on offer Pub has good local following good staff know there jobs a disabled toilet for people who can't use steps to the normal toilets I HAVE UPGRADED MY RATING FROM 4 STARS...
