The Chippy Fish & Chips — Restaurant in London

Very Disappointed. I found a HAIR STUCK IN my COD. I contacted the shop explaining that I am a genuine customer I have provided all my details to prove I am a loyal customer (I always made online orders or or orders on the phone) that still traditionally buy F + C every Friday as a treat for me and my family. We've been ordering fish and chips here for years. Never had any issues until recently. I was very calm telling them the problem and happy to provide pictures, anything they need from me, the manager just dismissed me said ok i know, just contact ‘Deliveroo’  get your money there (Its where I ordered from); I explained I already have so they can contact you but they said they only get involved with drivers. The food is nothing to do with them, which is fair. So I had to contact you directly. The manager then said “so what you want me to send food again?” I had an appointment I don’t have time to wait. I told him “Refund will be more appropriate, plus i am still happy to go back for mine and family’s routine my F + C but please be extra careful in the future”.  He then suddenly decided that it’s not their fault and that no one has hair there?! Are you kidding me! How ridiculous, despite I already said that I love their food and I will go back. I believe refund is very reasonable since I definitely wasn’t going to eat the fish, its already disturbing as it is. With the call going on more than 15 minutes he finally not sincerely said “ok, what’s you bank details?”. You guessed it.. HE DID NOT REFUND ME BACK (its been 3 days, so i did give him time). I really tried reasoning with the manager, all i wanted was a sincere apology, refund and future orders won’t happen like this. You know very well I am genuine, If you took a look of your previous orders!! Simple but instead I received: rudeness, not trust worthy and accusation. Unnecessary. This didn't have to be like this, if this was handled professionally. It’s safe to say with that attitude you have definitely lost a loyal...

*EDIT: The Chippy have always been my favourite, but lately, they've been particularly great. Their packaging has been different, too, so maybe they've made some changes.

Before, you'd sometimes get curry sauce that was much thicker and creamier than usual. Lately, it's been like that every single time. The chips have been really crispy and fluffy. Everything always arrives hot and fresh.

If you haven't ordered from here in a while, definitely try them again. Like I said, The Chippy have been my favourite chip shop for years, but recently, they're seriously great.*

Chips and curry sauce will always be my favourite naughty treat. The Chippy's is God tier. It can be hard to find good chip shop curry sauce in London, but my search for the perfect sauce is well and truly over.

That, and the service is great and it always arrives within 15 minutes, piping hot and perfect every time. Lockdown would be much harder if I didn't have my favourite comfort food, and The Chippy do it just right.

I dream about this curry sauce at night. My wife is jealous because I love it...

Ordered via an app - having managed my own fish and chip shops I was concerned when 4 mins later it was on its way.

Fish was a shocker, cold, greasy, translucent batter and broke in half on picking up. I’ve been horrified when served French fries and fish in the past. But never have I seen a 1.5” fish 😮

A cod fillet that’s clearly been cut into strips to go further. If I wanted ‘fish gingers’ I’d have ordered them or cod bites. I usually flit between 3 chippies around me and only used this on a friends Uber as they had a discount. Think it was 40% off the bill, but maybe it mean you only get 40% of the fish.

Chips were cold sadly but were actually ok in texture. Curry sauce was only thing hot. Wouldn’t recommend but gave my friends a good laugh, so much so they got out a tape measure and took pics for their socials.

Friend took the battered sausage. Was same, batter incredibly brown, translucent given it was so greasy, barely warm and chewy indicating it had been sat for well...
