Restaurant is good solid. 7/8 out him for the food, I'd say prices, portion sizes, 6 out of 6 or 7 out of 10, the service wasn't great.
Let me explain, so I wasSitting at the people waiting to order and I decided to move tables when I stood up the corner of the table, which was damaged on the corner ripped my jeans. Essentially, my favourite pair of jeans as well. So I was pretty disappointed.
What was weird about that though, is that the waitress saw it witnessed it. I could see so at the corner of my eye, as I looked down at my jeans to see if hurt my leg i didnt but saw that my jeans were ripped. Aa i looked down i noticed the waitress watching me she had seen everything from i stood up , I saw her turn away, turn away and walk off so she could pretend that she didn't see what happened, that was weird enough, so I then went to her and explained what happened, she only apologised which isnt great but She's only a waitress. So then I mentioned it to who I thought was the the owner "hi are u the owner""no im the just the manager" me " o fantastic. You could probably do something about this" then I Explained that it ripped my jeans, said to him, it's a health and safety issue, and that i was miffed cause it's my favourite jeans. He apologised. But there was no offer of any sort of compensation.
No free drink, no discount for my meal. No extra flod Nothing basically is that it was like the issue never happened. so decent restaurant, but customer service could have been better. Most places that I've been to some people on those lines happens. Something is done to make it a little bit better, but here nada ...
Will properly go back as the food is good .. but il get...
Read moreStroud Green offers many cusines and it was hard to choose, a decision was made by the cloudy weather wanting some comforting Pho; so Vietnamese food was had at Viet Ngon.
The restaurant is very big, and I really liked the decor here with there being many plants. One of the unusual experiences that we loved were the videos of Vietnamese dishes being cooked, that really added to the authenticity of experiencing not just the food, but also more of their culture. This was inspiring, making me want to investigate cooking the cuisine and visit Vietnam.
The people working in the restaurant are extremely friendly and we had great conversation with them about the love for good food, therefore as expected the service was great with extra smiles and laughter had.
For food we decided to start with a Golden Pancake, then having the Special Grilled Beef Pho and the Bun Cha Ha Noi. The pancake was nicely golden and crispy, with the fillings being fresh and crunchy with juicy pieces of chicken. When dipped into the sauce, the flavours and textures were so good. 😋
The Bun Cha Ha Noi was very nice, and the pork and broth were extremely tasty. The Pho was lovely, fresh, and comforting as I expected. The grilled beef had great flavour and texture, as it remained in the broth of the Pho, then adding in the bean sprouts, herbs, and chillis is when the yum started (though I added extra chilli for additional warmth and flavour).
Overall we had a nice time at Viet Ngon, and would recommend this...
Read moreI recently had the displeasure of dining at Viet Ngon Restaurant, that fell short in nearly every aspect of service and professionalism. Upon arrival, we were left completely ignored for 15 minutes despite the restaurant being only half full. No one acknowledged our presence, and we had to get up and approach the staff ourselves to ask them if we could order. Not once did anyone from the 4 staff members ask us what we would like to drink during that long wait.
We ordered a bottle of red wine, and to our surprise, the waiter opened it and simply left it on the table without offering a taste test or pouring for anyone at the table. This lack of attention and professionalism was a major letdown.
The dining experience only worsened from there. The main dish arrived before our starter, and the rice was served a full five minutes after the main courses came. This lack of coordination was frustrating, especially since we had to pay extra for that rice, which seemed absurd given the price of the main dish.
As for the summer- rolls (goi cuon) they were a disappointment. The filling consisted of a small amount of meat, with an overwhelming amount of lettuce, making for a poor balance of flavors and textures. The sauce on the side was also very basic. Why do you guys not use peanut-sauce like they do in Vietnam?
Overall, the service was disorganized and inattentive, and the food did not live up to expectations. This place has a long way to go before earning my recommendation. Do...
