Seems to simultaneously get it right and wrong. FOOD Food has always been good but the cakes are pricey. (£9 for a slice of chocolate cake) SERVICE Service is generally fine at the counter but can be abrupt and verging on unwelcoming around the tables. Not sure why this is. LAPTOPS There was a time when you could use laptops, then not after 5pm, then not at all. Now it seems that you can. It's a bit schizophrenic and makes you not sure what reception you are going to get when visiting. Now we just don't bother, which is a shame as we would lunch here more if we could. EVENINGS In the evenings there is a DJ which is great, but it often feels like it is mainly for Tate employees who sit at the end of the bar, or the seating area between the bar and door. I totally understand this, it's a nice bar and they must get a discount but it would be nice to feel a part of it. We only want to support it, but you can feel like a bit of an inconvenience as you often have to interrupt their group conversations to get served. LOCAL POLICY When it first opened I was given a locals discount card because I live in the same postcode. This was very generous but it soon stopped being honoured. It would have been nice to be told why this was no longer accepted. When it was given to me they said it was to make locals feel welcome, but the reception I have received when I have offered it has made me feel otherwise (I suspect this might be due to others abusing it). With this being revoked, and the firm line on laptops, it feels like tourists are being prioritied over locals. Admittedly, this makes financial sense but as a teaching assistant the discount was very welcome, but more importantly, the gesture made me feel more included and supported as a keyworker visiting Corner. Also I have found the bar doesn't accept my Tate members card for a discount after 5pm/6pm? AMBIANCE The ambiance is brilliant, they clearly have spent a huge deal of time, energy and money creating a beautiful space, lighting and sound design. Overall I'm really grateful to Tate for the investment in the new area (especially now the Blavatnik members room seems to be permanently closed) but would be grateful if the visiting experience would be more coherent.

Very expensive for a light bite. We paid £28 for a sandwich, 2 drinks and a cupcake. The braised pork sandwich was awful and made me feel very nauseous - I nearly sent it back. Overpriced, bougie menu that leaves a lot to be desired where taste is concerned - and that's coming from someone who has an extremely varied palate and pretty much eats anything. I never leave food I've paid for but it was either that or be physically sick from it :( Never again. The Tate Modern may be free to enter but the cafe more than makes up for it in their pricing. Avoid if possible. Definitely not 'affordable', especially for family groups.

It's more like a bar and not like the standard museum café you'd expect. They have a fantastic beer selection, mostly from small independent UK breweries plus great cocktails and wines. If you're lucky, you can sit in one of the lounge chairs and enjoy a fantastic view of St Paul's and the river Thames. The interior feels modern and comfy, it's quite spacious and they are usually open until late, long after the museum closes. It's actually one of my favourite 'riverside pubs'.

Went here for verdant brewery tap take over could not criticise food or beer but customer service was very poor Had sat down on sofa when someone turned up with a reserved sign!! we arrived at 1645 and at 17:10 they decided it was reserved at 1800 so we had to leave our prime seats lady said we could stay til six but didn't understand our complaint that sign should have been out sooner !!! We would not have wasted our time !!!! Lady was gormless and could not get our complaint!!! At £17.00,for 2 drinks felt very unvalued !!! Go when quiet as they don't care about customer service !!!!!!!!! So disappointed we moved to another space as we had others joining us Verdant 5 plus Tate corner bar customer service minus 1 Need to adopt a better policy and not annoy customers who already in situ !!!!! Plus when ordering a vodka and coke for me they charged £7 .00 and £3:50 for coke and used only half bottle of coke and wanted to keep rest of coke to probably give to someone else !! Not happy...

A few weeks ago we went to the Tate Modern, on the way out we saw the place and said it was a good opportunity to quench our thirst, take a breath on a chair and enjoy a cigarette. We had a beer each but on the way out to the terrace we read that we were not allowed to bring glass glasses on the terrace of the place. One of us went to the bar and asked for clarification, we were directed to take a plastic glass with which we could go out on the terrace. We paid one pound each for a plastic glass and we went out. On the terrace we noticed that we were the only ones with plastic glasses. We sat down at a table and some of us lit a cigarette, after a short while we noticed that at the end of the table, very discreetly it was written that smoking is prohibited. We put out our cigarettes, got up and left without finishing our drinks. There was a queue at the bar so we kept the...
