The members bar is a crèche overrun with prams, children and babies. Screaming, knocking things over, climbing on furniture, running around and crawling on the floor. Utterly out of control.
Self centered parents these days don't control or discipline children - they just have a glass of wine and stare at their iPhone. And the staff here do nothing to control the chaos.
AND Tate so what is the justification for this rule?
"How many children can I take into exhibitions and Members Rooms? All Members can bring up to six children under 16 years old."
SIX is absurd when you can only bring one adult.
Maybe you should rename these rooms to "playgrounds" as that's what they are. When I confronted an idiot Millennial French (typical) father of SIX brats when one of his used my table as a gymnast platform I got the typical reply. He said the ART GALLERY is a playground. Thank God for Brexit!
Compared to the V&A and RA the Tate members rooms are really bottom of the heap if you want to relax and enjoy forget it!
Don't bother coming or trying to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine and the views less you enjoy this environment.

The Members Bar at Tate Gallery is an absolute delight! Nestled high above the city, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Thames and the London skyline. Whether you visit during the day or at sunset, the atmosphere is always something special.
The space itself is stylish yet relaxed, making it a perfect retreat from the bustling gallery below. The staff are attentive and welcoming, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience. The selection of drinks is excellent, with a well-curated wine list, quality coffee, and refreshing cocktails. The food menu, though not extensive, is thoughtfully put together, featuring delicious small plates and light bites that perfectly complement the setting.
What truly sets the Members Bar apart is its exclusivity—avoiding the crowds and having a quiet spot to reflect on the art you've just seen makes the membership feel even more worthwhile. If you're a Tate member, this is undoubtedly one of the best perks!
Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a refined yet relaxed experience with some of the best...
Read moreWith the opening of the new building, the lunch offerings of the members room seem to have gone from wonderful to British Rail Cafe! The original members room now offers only dull sandwiches in those plastic triangular boxes. So moved to the new members room located in the 8th floor of the new building. At 1pm there was no hot food (told that some would be brought out in 30 mins, and when they did arrive 45 mins later, they were just 3 choices, each of the 'lots of mash and a bit of something else' variety). One of the 3 choices of salad was being composed by a girl using her bare hands. Gone was the choice of freshly baked cakes, replaced by jam jars of cream-based puddings and a few muffins. My chocolate muffin was stale. The girl behind the till hadn't a clue of what she was doing, and there wasn't a separate queue for those wanting only coffee or tea. All in all an unpleasant experience comared to what members had...
