The Edinboro Castle, 8.9/10 You want a beer garden in Camden, do you? Do you want the best beer garden in Camden? Do you? Are you sure? Well, look no further. You've found it. Just round the corner from Regents Park, you'll find what looks like a small blue pub. Hmm. I thought those northlondonpints lads said this was the best beer garden in Camden. Well hold on there. Never judge a pub by its front. Unless you're in South London. Then judge it on whatever you want. It'll still be terrible. Once you walk through the small tardis-like interior, you are teleported to an absolute Sahara Desert of a beer garden. The inside is like Tyrion Lannister, the outside is like The Mountain. Inside is like Jerry, outside is like Tom. Inside R2-D2, outside Chewbacca. You get it? It's a biggun. Despite it being a summery place, these lot still know how to handle a Guinness. Top tier. Premier League. Rolls Royce. Crème de la crème. Literally. Our waitress in here was having a tough go at it all. The garden was absolutely heaving, and she was trying to do multiple things at once. Respect to her. One of our orders did get a bit delayed. How come the ratings so high then, you ask? Well, she greeted us with a free round to make up for it. Heads up any other pub that wants a high score. There's a big hint as to how to get a good rating from us. Maybe without the waiting part. Reviewed 09/06/21 on @northlondonpints Instagram.

I don’t even know where to start. This entire experience was absolutely horrid. Walking in, you are provided with the wonderful sound of glass being smashed against one another. This continues about every 20 seconds, giving you a headache with the first 5 minutes of being seated. Moving on, their online menu is the slowest website known to man. Takes a good couple minutes to actually load, so plenty of time to listen to the glasses being smashed against one another. Once it does finally load, it takes another two minutes for anything you add to your order to actually register, so MORE time to listen to the glasses. On top of that there’s also no table numbers labeled anywhere so you have to go ask the staff what table you are to actually put in your order. After a good 20 minutes of waiting for the menu to load, and another 30 waiting for the frozen, overpriced, microwaved food, you receive your “king prawns”. They were about the size of my pinky curled up, probably even smaller to be honest. Oh and did I mention the meat pie still had the tin plate attached to it that comes out of the frozen box? Food portions were extremely small (and flavourless) for what they charge you and the atmosphere was all around horrible. The only reason to ever go to this place is to be disappointed (or get a headache).

* for Ambience * For friendly staff doing the best they can post-lockdown Lost stars: Menu had promise. Unfortunately, the starter came out at the same time as the mains, the chicken wings were burnt and the bbq sauce was a little drizzle. The burger was bland and cooked to an inch of its life. The festive pie wasn’t much better. The pastry was rock solid, the mash microwaved and had a solid film of burnt potato at the bottom and the steamed veg was soggy and whilst were in December, contained courgettes? I’d have raised this with staff but we were served food, ate the food (without anyone asking if the food was ok or if we wanted another drink, condiments, etc) and had to get up after waiting 20mins after finishing our food to go to the bar and pay (despite covid rules and a relatively quiet pub by during our time there) otherwise we felt we would have been waiting all night for someone to come over to us (to the corner table hidden behind a Christmas tree)... All in all, lovely ambience, staff were doing their best on the first day post lockdown but the food was sub-par and we won’t be going back. Disappointed.
