I have never ever been spoken to so rudely by a manager. Our food was over 40 minutes late, I asked the manager where it was. He explained that the ticket machine had broken, he went to check and came back and asked us if we had ordered fries (it was two burgers) he then went away, and we had no further update. I went outside for a cigarette, then came back and as he was going in the kitchen tried to ask him, which he purposely ignored me. (Bit weird) my friend then went to the bar a further 10 minutes later. He saw her, walked out of the bar on purpose to avoid her. (Really weird) then I went up because it was ridiculous and taking ages. He said it was ‘coming’ and I said is that the best you can do? An apology, or another drink is usually what happen when your food takes four times as long as the average food is sit (usually 15 mins max) he then proceeded to blame the kitchen for the printer breaking, stating they were independent and nothing to do with them. Well, I said to the manager are you joking? At no point is it clear they are independent and the bar staff take the orders… And he basically told me that he’s nothing to do with it, told the chef he had to apologise, and the proceeded to tell me my VOICE was ‘ANNOYING’. Anyway, the chef was SO apologetic, but the manager was not. He spent the entire night in a flap, walking round, speaking badly to staff, and to customers. Maybe he was having a bad day, but I’ve worked in hospo since I was a kid, and if he speaks to customers like that I’d hate to see how he speak/deals with staff. Such a shame, we come here a lot on Sundays and after being treated so rudely I don’t think we’ll be returning, bad time to have a bad manager when hospitality is struggling so much. The bar staff were great and patiently listened to my shock. The manager can...
Read moreNo chance to find out if it was good, didn't get very far through the door. Had my baby who's 6 weeks old and fast asleep and in a sling (no buggy, because I didn't want to be a pain), told she wasn't aloud in. First time I've ever heard a policy of no babes in arms. The reason given, when I asked was that she was in danger from drunk people falling on her. She is not in the way and in no danger. We came because there was a carol singing thing and heard the pub was a friendly local (I imagined it would be open to babes in arms). There's no info about this anywhere and nothing online. It wasn't even that busy and there was loads of room and loads of seats. Very frustrating as we came to meet friends at the event with a half an hour journey. If you have policies, please share them....
Read moreThis used to be a very nice neighbourhood pub and many folks still seem to enjoy it. The lady working the bar was lovely, however... maybe it's a sign of the times that some of the staff had too much time hovering around the tables, constantly clearing glasses, removing the parasols wordlessly just as it started to rain (we know they were going to close soon, but still), frantically wiping tables as soon as anyone got up to leave (they were nevertheless sticky). My friend got a weird remark for asking for another napkin and not ordering a drink (she already had one and we were sharing a pizza). For a relaxed night this doesn't make. Shame as this was one of the few places where I'd even just go for a drink on my own occasionally, but the atmosphere...
