Friday the 13th I weaved along Great Ormond street on my bike counting the Georgian house numbers in search of the Espresso Room which had been on my “destination treat list” ever since it featured in the ES, July 2010. No bike rack nearby but their neighbour’s railings are welcoming. It really is just a room! in the caring hands of outstanding staff, service is warm and efficient and accessible to all who enter this cosy roost. Regulars arrived for their 4 o'clock caffeine revival hugging their keepcups. A silky smooth Macchiato £2.40 with a freshly baked almond chocolate cookie £1.60 were accompanied by a complimentary glass of water. Wooden benches are shared creating a convivial rapport amongst the clientele. A coffee experience that got me in the mood for an evening at La Champagneria in Barcelona.... how can coffee do that to you? First class coffee and five star hospitality, a very...

I am a regular there. The coffee served at The Espresso Room is quite distinct from anything else I've tried. I am a relative novice coffee drinker (3 years), but a purist: straight coffee, no milk, no sugar. Based on my experience of coffee drinking in Italy, Portugal, Paris, Montreal and Seattle (all at places that reputadly make 'good, freshly ground coffee'), my impression is that the team at this place do not try to imitate Italian coffee, which to my taste emphasises bitterness (I think that's what many people call 'good coffee'); in contrast I find the Espresso Room coffee fruitier than any other coffee I have ever tried (I hope that this comment won't hinder their success!!!) Does this impression resonate with anyone else? As a matter of fact, I once brought a group of Italians to this place and they found the coffee 'different', to...

To me, coffee is not merely a liquid produced by the extraction of ground coffee beans. In all of its aromatic forms, combinations and rituals of serving, it is an uplifting experience not many other can rival. And nothing lifts my spirits higher than discovering people who appreciate and value it as much as I do. I've been fortunate enough to find such people at The Espresso Room.

They serve, definitely, one of the best coffees I've ever tasted. I like an espresso in the morning to get me going and throughout the day I appreciate all forms of coffee/milk combinations. Their espresso is smooth, rich and well textured but without any trace of bitterness, and the flat white is simply heavenly with rich foam and sugar poured in advance so you can enjoy the beautiful design created by the...

I love independent coffee places, and this place did not disappoint. The tea I ordered was given a correct amount of time to brew and the white coffee wasn't drowned in milk like is often my experience. It's cosy inside, so more a grab and go type of place. There is quirky bench seating outside when the weather permits.

Absolutely amazing coffee, full of flavour. You can tell the difference in quality between their blend and others. Great service from Sebastian, always happy and friendly! Highly reccomend to visit if passing through for a coffee fix. Nice selection of fresh croissants.

Competent coffee let down by a staff member who dropped my coffee on the end of my very long table rather than actually deliver it to me, with predictable results. Other staff knew and apologised but didn't actually rectify the now half empty flat white 🤷🏼‍♂️
