A group of my old school friends and I descend on London each February to watch some 6 nations rugby, salute the birthday of a sadly departed friend, sink a few pints and reminisce about the the good old days. With the closure of our usual venue for such an event, the Knights Templar Wetherspoons pub, we took a risk to come here this year. The Montagu Pyke is located in what used to be the Marquee Club. This was the place where, in 1962, a little known group of lads called The Rolling Stones made their first live performance. The number of other bands from the 60s, 70, and 80s who played here reads like the Who's Who's list of iconic British and American rock groups. Talk about atmospheric! Three of us got here relatively early in the afternoon and nabbed a table with high stools more or less in line with the large screen onto which the rugby would be projected. This place was really full with a lot of people coming and going but we held our place for the others in our party of 6 to eventually arrive. All afternoon we got through countless rounds of the reasonably priced Greene King IPA. Delicious and just so easy to drink. As the afternoon of rugby and beer continued, some of us got peckish and ordered fish & chips, or in my case just a large plate of chips which went down a treat. We also found ourselves mounting the stairs more frequently to visit the fairly clean restrooms on the first floor. All in all we thought that this was a good substitute to the Knights Templar pub and will probably come here again next year, God permitting.

Have been to this Wetherspoons branch before and it has a nice ambience about it. My friend and I went on 04-12-21 to grab a quick meal before going to the theatre. We are familiar with the layout and how to order etc. When we arrived just after 5pm, the place was heaving. This branch is very popular and it was very busy, but we managed to find somewhere to sit. Ordering usually you can go to the bar, but now you can either download the app or scan the barcode on the table and it leads you to the website where you can order food and drinks, just click and order what you want, put your table number and card details in. My drink and food arrived within minutes and I was happy with the service. Can't complain. I had the meal deal - Fish and Chips with Peas. For Dessert I chose Warm Fudge Choc Cake with Vanilla Ice-Cream and it went down well. Toilets you have to take stairs up to the balcony and then another flight of stairs to the ladies but plenty of cubicles and fairly clean. Would definitely recommend this place, JD Wetherspoons is cheap and cheerful but reliable. Find service quite fast too in terms of ordering food and drink. Everyone's experience may be different but I've never had any problems with them, this branch and Wood Green. Nice ambience, busy, vibrant, music in the background but all round good vibe.

Our recent visit to The Montagu Pyke, a Wetherspoons establishment, offered a straightforward yet satisfying dining experience. The food, while not extraordinary, was exactly what one expects from Wetherspoons – tasty and fulfilling. We enjoyed a good meal that hit the spot without any frills. The atmosphere at The Montagu Pyke was pleasantly lively, contributing to an energetic dining experience. However, its popularity does mean that it gets extremely busy, particularly post-4pm. Finding a table during these peak hours can be a bit of a challenge, so timing is key for a more relaxed visit. The service efficiency was a standout feature. Our drinks arrived impressively fast, within five minutes of ordering, and the food followed suit, taking only about ten minutes. This quick service was especially commendable considering the busy nature of the pub. Overall, our experience at The Montagu Pyke was a positive one. It offered the reliable quality of a Wetherspoons with the added buzz of a busy London pub. It’s a great spot for a quick, no-fuss meal, especially if you plan your visit to avoid the busiest times.

Dispite I had to eat my dinner while walking the manager on shift today really did me justice..I was sitting on table 100 and was waiting for a couple of colleagues to come so we could eat before work..however one of the staff and put this man's drink on my table amd he just decided to sit there...when I said I have people coming this is my table he started to swear and shout and told me he can sit where he wants..usually if it was just me I wouldn't of minded im I'd be 1 on a table of 4 it was the rudeness and the fact I was being robbed for my table I asked to speak to a manager the first manager not the main manager came over and spoke with me the issue wasn't being resolved so I saw a free table and decided let him have the table I dont want to argue with a old man. Once I'd moved it wasn't far away and this old guy wouldn't stop shouting at me even across other tables disturbing other customers while they eat also..I called for a manager again and the actual manager in a blue shirt really helped me out he went and spoke to the man who also continued to be rude I was refunded and given the food to take away..this is real customer service great guy and because if him and the way he treated me I will return to this place and I do recommend this place because even if something goes wrong the manager is fair and will help. Im sorry I never got his name...
