Asian in London, United Kingdom 🤔 Rating: ★★★★★
While their name suggests that they serve red meats, “Flat” is definitely not what I would use to describe their steak. However, there are some important points you have to take note of if you want to have an enjoyable experience at Flat Iron.
Unlike traditional restaurants, all of their Flat Iron outlets do not accept reservations. They do have an extremely convenient waiting list which texts you when your table is available. If you’re expecting various types of meat, this is not the place. Flat Iron only serves their regular or ribeye steak in their main course menu. With that being said, they have a wide selection of wine that can compliment your dinner.
With that out of the way, let’s talk service. Fantastic. They were attentive, friendly and accommodating. They even offer popcorn while you wait for your food!
I’d recommend coming here for dinner but if you dislike waiting, come during lunch hours. They’re open after 12pm and sometimes even to midnight!
Now, if you’ve made a reservation and walked around, you should be pretty hungry by the time you find yourself a seat. After deciding what compliments you can add to your steak (from their daily variety of garden vegetables to chips infused with the essence of cooking their meat), you end up waiting again. But don’t worry! It took about 10-20 minutes for me, and tables around me as well. The waiting time is as consistent as the quality of the food that they serve.
What did I have? I wanted the ribeye, but they were sold out. I’d suggest going earlier if you want to try their ribeye!
Medium-rare is the way to go by the way. Medium is forgivable, and anything beyond that is dead to me. Not only is chewing enjoyable (each bite literally squeezes the juice out of the meat), chopping it up is too! Instead of using a steak knife, Flat Iron hands you a mini chopper to dice your meat up into easier bites.
Overall, Flat Iron is a must-come! The economical pricing coupled with their perfectly grilled steaks and a red wine make for a perfect evening, alone or with friends. Best for a...
Read moreAs a Google Maps reviewer with over 93 million views, I pride myself on providing honest and insightful feedback. My experience at this steakhouse was nothing short of exceptional, warranting a well-deserved five-star rating.
The atmosphere within the restaurant was both inviting and pleasant, contributing to an overall excellent dining experience. An unexpected delight was the complimentary ice cream provided after our meal, a sweet touch that rounded off the dinner perfectly.
Some of the tables are long and are shared between two parties, While this could be a minor inconvenience for some; however, the lively ambiance and opportunity to meet new people can also be seen as a unique dining twist. For my family, it was an inconvenience.
The pricing structure is straightforward and appealing. You can select a succulent 200g steak for 14 pounds and complement it with your choice of sides from a list. The daily deals on Wagyu steak cuts stand out, offering gourmet quality at an incredibly affordable price.
Service efficiency is where this steakhouse truly shines. The staff are remarkably attentive and swift, ensuring a seamless dining experience. It is advisable to book in advance, as we experienced a 1.5-hour wait on a Sunday night. Despite the initial delay, the wait was entirely worthwhile, culminating in a dining experience we didn't regret holding out for.
The washrooms on the second floor are notably spacious and well-kept, offering ample space and comfort for users. They reflect the establishment's commitment to cleanliness and visitor satisfaction.
Additionally, the inclusion of a 12.5% service charge in the bill eliminates any post-meal tipping confusion, allowing for a smoother conclusion to your visit.
In conclusion, I strongly recommend this steakhouse for anyone looking for top-notch service, delicious food, and a memorable dining experience. Don't let the possibility of a wait discourage you; it's a testament to the quality and popularity of this...
Read moreOverall, a fantastic dining experience and would HIGHLY recommend you visit.
However, the online booking system is not brilliant. As we were en-route into London, I checked my phone to see that I had received a text from them giving us 5 minutes to confirm our booking (it had arrived whilst we were driving to the train station 30 minutes previously). So, the entire trip we sat on tenterhooks wondering if my confirmation 25 minutes late had secured the table for a birthday party.
However, upon arrival (Tottenham Court Road branch), our table had been reserved and we were seated quickly with a number of cups of popcorn. The staff from front of house to waiting staff were all very professional, highly competent and so personable. I recommend a seat at the rear under the large skylight. Toilets were clean and smelled fresh.
Our drinks order was taken quickly (Rose lemonade, Lemon and Mint, Passion fruit Collins, Pressure Drop APA and a Pisco Punch - made with Peruvian Pisco upon enquiring). All were excellent.
The menu itself is "compact" but rather focus on doing a small number of things well than a smorgasbord to a lower standard!
Our waitress (her name escapes me) was made aware of a gluten allergy and was very clued up on what was or wasn't suitable. She did describe the meat options but I missed that part being busy doing something else. I made the incorrect decision ordering the Scottish Bavette thinking it would be more to my taste. Having tasted the 5 other flat irons, I realised I should have gone that way. All were cooked to perfection (from rare through to medium rare, medium and well done(!!!).
The spinach side was very good although I found the chips were perhaps a little on the mean side. However, again, all cooked very well.
Whilst we didn't have the (free) ice cream on this occasion, we have saved out tokens and will go back and eat there again. If you are after a well cooked steak, this is the...
