Went on Tuesday with a friend and were met with friendly greetings from staff and were immediately seated.
We noted how beautiful the cafe was, it was really nice, with each individual table spread out far enough to have that individual feel of one’s party but not too much so in losing that cozy feeling. As it is a family owned cafe, was really excited to try the cafe to support a family business and spread the word.
My order: Pineapple Juice (£3.30), Honey Mustard and Chicken Wrap with Sweet Potato Chips (£13.95 + £1 for sweet potato chips) and Chocolate Fondant cake (£7.95).
My total meal came up to £26.20 but with 12.5% service charge paid £29.45.
The pineapple juice was really refreshing, and whilst I opted for the juice out of the carton option, with the added ice there was not much difference in the taste. Great as a little drink to get the palate going!
The Honey Mustard and Chicken Wrap with the sweet potato chips was well seasoned, sweet and refreshing. You also cannot go wrong with sweet potato chips, they were the right balance of crisp and sweet! Also received some mayo and it was really yummy! It was a beautiful play of flavours dancing on my tongue and I really enjoyed it!
By my goodness that Chocolate Fondant cake. Gooey, not too rich and the perfect balance of sweetness and warmth was a perfect dessert to top everything off. When I told my server (didn’t catch his name unfortunately) he recommended it saying that it was his personal favourite and he was not lying it was really nice and for just under £8 a great dessert with great ingredients.
You can really tell that a lot of effort has gone into this family owned and run establishment, from the decor to the atmosphere to the food, I really recommend anyone thinking about a little breakfast/brunch place to check this place out. Even the personalised plates showed that extra level of detail and touch to add to this place!
The staff are all so welcoming and check up you to make sure you’re okay but also keep a good distance for you to enjoy your meal and talk. Even after myself and friend finished our meals we sat there for a while before leaving and also really enjoyed that view of the Thames and other parts of London 💙. The weather being nice helped but even if it was raining the place is really nice.
The River Gardens Café is a great brunch place in Greenwich, with its cozy and comforting charm going well with its likeable menu items. The laidback vibe makes you feel that you can take things and your own pace. From the staff, to the decor and even being a dog friendly cafe it is a real gem in Greenwich!
If you’re in the area and want a café spot check out the River Gardens Café!

Read moreDuring our visit to the cafe, we were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service we received. From the moment we walked in, the gentleman serving us went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. He had a warm smile on his face and immediately noticed our little one, who was with us. He engaged with our child, making funny faces and playful gestures, which instantly put our kid at ease.
What impressed us even more was that he thoughtfully provided baby cutlery without us having to ask for it. It showed that he genuinely cared about the comfort and convenience of all customers, including the little ones. It made the whole dining experience hassle-free and enjoyable for our child.
As we proceeded to the till to make the payment, we encountered the ladies who were handling the transactions. They were equally delightful and displayed a high level of professionalism while still being warm and approachable. They engaged in friendly conversation, making us feel like valued guests, and not just another customer in line.
The overall atmosphere of the cafe was inviting, with a cozy ambiance that encouraged relaxation and conversation. The staff's attentiveness and friendliness added a special touch to our visit, making us feel like we were part of their cafe family.
In addition to the excellent service, the food and beverages were top-notch, exceeding our expectations. The menu offered a wide variety of delicious options, and the presentation was impeccable.
Without a doubt, this cafe has mastered the art of customer service. Their dedication to providing a welcoming and friendly environment for families with children is commendable. It's evident that they value their customers' experience and go the extra mile to ensure everyone leaves with a smile.
We are truly grateful for the outstanding service we received at this cafe, and we will undoubtedly return in the future. If you're looking for a place that combines great food with exceptional customer care, this cafe should be at the top of your list. Kudos to the entire team for making our visit an...
Read moreVery friendly atmosphere, great coffee and hot chocolate. A must visit for anyone looking for a quiet place to work, or to pick up a coffee/lunch/cake to eat while walking along the Thames path.
Location - beautiful views of the river during morning and evening. Being here is a real calming environment. Looking west towards central London in the late afternoon you get to see an amazing sunset over the Thames and across to Canary Wharf. Lots of outdoor benches close-by to enjoy takeaway coffee or food with a view. Inside, beautifully decorated, many plants and very dog friendly.
Team - Always friendly, positive team. Consistently coming up with new ideas for food and drink menus. This year I was introduced to my new favourite, a coconut chai latte. Visiting here during lockdown (sitting in or for takeaway) has often been the highlight of my day :-)
Food - Brilliant, fresh healthy options, always well prepared and immaculate presentation. Great consistency. Throughout this year the chef has also come up with new takeaway options - the fish and chips cooked to order has been a real winner.
Cakes - This deserves its own category. Truly amazing and some of ... actually... the best in Greenwich. As with the food, new interesting options often appear throughout the week. Favourites include Carrot Cake, Banoffee Pie, Apple Pie and the new addition of freshly cooked doughnuts with ice cream and chocolate sauce is another clever tasty creation.
Coffee - This team knows how to make good coffee. They have alternative milks available (coconut, oat, etc) and are very skilled baristas, steaming these to the perfect temperature, as well as presenting these in beautiful cups and glasses. This attention to detail makes the experience all the more special. Thank you. As mentioned before, great drinks I have had include Coconut Chai Latte, Hot Chocolate and can recommend in the warmer months, Iced tea, Iced Chocolate and Coconut Iced Lattes are a great option for cooling down by the river.
Amazing. Thank...
