the pelton arms, the pizza chef, he actually ran his hand through his hair and continued to work on our food without washing his hands and spent more time drinking and chit chatting than putting the pizzas in the oven. I wasn’t told that the wait would be longer than one hour when ordering at the bar, I actually wasn’t told any wait time at all for the pizzas. We waited forty five minutes until we asked the bar staff for where our food was, they said that during the rush it was up to an hours wait. We waited another half an hour and watched in silence as they made the pizza’s, one of the chefs sarcastically asked about the pizza we ordered, and we said we didn’t want to hear their excuses. Once we got the pizza it was uncut and watery. Pizza prize of the year and you better be ready to wait year for some watery agglutinated bacon bit mess which ended up being pretty tasteless. Other diners were coming into the kitchen and asking about their pizza’s, I only asked the waiter staff about the wait and he gave me the same wait time excuse that I could’ve benefitted from when I ordered the pizzas, if you’re not able to handle the dinnertime rush of apparently an award winning pizza kitchen don’t take it out on your customers. £15 for a watery pizza, get a new chef.

I recently stayed at this pub for one night. The barman was friendly and efficient, food was gorgeous and we enjoyed trying one of the many interesting drinks on draught. The room was lovely with comfortable beds. There was plenty of storage and plug points too. A breakfast basket was left in the room for us, but we chose to have breakfast at the recommended cafe which was excellent too. I loved the quirky retro nature of the pub and enjoyed the nostalgia of knowing it was the Nags Head for Only Fools and Horses. The toilets are shared but there are 2 toilets and a shower between 5 rooms. There's also a kitchen area with microwave to warm up any food you like. Even though it's a pub, you can have your own food and drink in your room. They even leave earplugs and a sleep mask on the bed so your not disturbed by the noise etc from downstairs. The location is also great, close to the 02 and loads of other things to do. I honestly wish I'd been staying longer and would love to return.

Apparently named after a colliery in Durham an early Victorian pub (1844) featuring an attractive 3 tiered frontage, with a distinctive green faience tiled lower course, dominating the suburban streetscape corner. Soft lights and an uncluttered weathered wooden interior, with low ceilings and decorated with a collection of old alcohol/cigarette/ and vintage film posters and mirrors adding tone and gravitas. An enclosed outside garden. Respectable and credible selection of ales, lagers, traditional pub fare and specialising in pizzas. Friendly and convivial staff, music nights and games an endorsement and accolade to a local pub rich in tradition and steeped in local lore.

My two daughters took me yesterday for my birthday had seen it advertised on social media and it looked really good. What an absolute nightmare to park was driving round for ages before finding somewhere. We got in there it was nice and cosy with a good atmosphere unfortunately that’s where our positive experience ended! We went to the bar to order our food the server was nice and friendly But was told all the basic added extras that would usually come with a roast that you had to pay extra for were not available (cauliflower cheese, stuffing, pigs in blankets) they wasn’t even sold out just didn’t have them. While waiting for our food we seemed to be a target for the pubs cat which was friendly enough but would rather not have creeping round my feet and sitting behind me on the window seal where food is being served. We waited 55 mins for the starters to come out (and it was only me who had one!) which was ok but the flavour was very strong and overpowering. Finally after an hour and 10 minutes our basic roast dinners arrived well I don’t even know where to start! Firstly when it got put down I actually thought they had given me a kids meal by mistake, it had one slice of meat, 2 and half (yes it was actually cut in half and put on each plate) a couple of carrots and was freezing cold. It was also served on a plate that you would expect to see in a school kitchen. My daughter had one piece of her beef and spat it out, it was totally inedible she couldn’t even chew it. I called the lady over who couldn’t have been more helpful and explained that they had, had lots of complaints regarding the food lately. She did offer to reheat it for us but after paying £20 each and waiting over an hour I wasn’t prepared to have my food re heated. We asked for a refund and left getting a kebab on the way home! I actually truly felt embarrassed for the person that had made it and served it to me. Absolutely shocking. I definitely won’t be...

Amazing place.

Came in a few night ago thirsty and sleepy; my motorbike had broken down and was waiting repair. One night, maybe two? Tha barman said not to worry, poured me a nice pint and swiftly showed me the room. There are (at least) 5 rooms above the Pub of which mine was bright, clean and friendly. I imagine all rooms are like mine and therfor great!

The rooms share a little hallway/kitchenette, two toilets and a shower. There is a coffeemaker and coffeegrounds in the kitchen, which is nothing short of brilliant. You also have access to tea, a microwave, water boiler and a two stove burner (if you can reach it and get it off the cupboard ;). Great additions to the room! My only suggestion to make this place even better; a shared fridge would be nice and the couch in the kitchenette has seen better days. A small breakfasttable instead of the couch perhaps?

The bar downstairs is very good. The initial barman was very friendly, but I haven't seen anyone not being cheerfull and happy to work here. The staff seems to be getting along very will, which is the best sign of a good pub. Good beers, lots of entertainment (two nights of live music) and good food! The pizza's are the thing to go for, right out of the real woodfire oven in the beergarden. The neighbourhood seems to know too as fooddrivers come and go all night.

Today I'm leaving as my motorbike has been fixed. Happy to ride off into the countryside, but sad to leave this place. Just an all around great experience and first time encounter with a London pub. It's the kind of place some great English writer should write a book about one day.

Thank you...

Watched England match, been here many times. Ordered 2 bottles of wine, other drinks and food, spending nearly ÂŁ100. Someone pinched our half finished wine or possibly it was removed in error by someone clearing up, though it was in a bucket. It was very crowded and chaotic in pub. A nice member of staff replaced with another 1/3 bottle. Was disgusted then to have another staff member called Claire complain about the gesture, (though it was nothing to do with her) and then tell me and my friend to leave and was virtually abusive. She literally said " drink up and leave" after also saying it was our fault we'd lost our wine. I'm a pensioner, not some unruly customer. Looking at reviews here, I see her name is mentioned a few times by other unhappy customers regarding her rudeness. It literally ruined our evening. When I rang to complain the next day to the manager Lily, had more hostility, saying amongst other dreadful things, she would watch the CCTV to see how WE were behaving, we must have name dropped (!) to get a replacement bottle of wine, we should have left when we were told even though we had done nothing wrong, we arent regulars and sarcastically, hope you feel better getting it off your chest but I'm not doing anything about it! Shocking customer service. Am forced to take this further as...
