We were asked to come on time… had to wait for 10 mins for a host to come to the line and see us, and not before he dealt with the three tables in front of us… then we had to wait another 15 mins after that to prep the table.
The first 10 mins of waiting in line was really disorganised chaos with seemingly no one in charge.
The a la carte menu wasn’t available because it was a Sunday… on Sunday they serve Sunday Roast 🫤. That was not clear to us when we made the reservation and so disappointing… (you do not go to a burger and wing place to eat Sunday Roast!) but since we had the reservation and kids were hungry we sat down.
The Sunday set menu had a few options. We chose burgers for the kids (dry and over cooked - but we were told they aren’t allowed to cook them any less than that for legal reasons). The kids menu is supposed to include cheese croquettes but they ran out. We subbed for wings for one child, which were really good. The other 2 kids don’t eat wings so they gave us a discount to make up for it.
I had the litchi martini which was really good. I also ordered the mac and cheese since it was on the kids menu (even though it wasn’t on the Sunday set menu they allowed me to order it which I appreciated). Unfortunately the mac and cheese was nothing like the photos I saw on previous reviews and was told that this is how they make it on Sunday….? It tasted like boxed mac and cheese… I sent it back and they comped it.
My husband had the roast beef from the set menu which was very hard, chewy and he couldn’t eat. The Yorkshire pudding and gravy was good though, as well as the roast veg.
Our guest had the roast chicken which she really enjoyed and she also had the cheesecake. The chicken looked really moist and I tried the cheesecake which was pretty good.
I was offered a drink on the house and I had another litchi martini which was as good as the first one.
The service was lacking not because the people weren’t great ( they were) but because it looked like they were short staffed. A hostess and manager would go a long way to sorting that out. Our waiter really did the best he could.
I wouldn’t come again. It wasn’t an immersive experience as I was expecting. I think the reviews for the game side get muddled with the restaurant.
If we came back to do the game, I may stop by the restaurant for a cocktail and some finger foods.
I was really disappointed because the a la carte menu looked really good.
Another table behind us had adult burgers and they looked good.
Overall I’m disappointed we weren’t made clear the menu isn’t available on Sundays, and how apart from the menu and some small accessories, you wouldn’t know you are in a Monopoly themed restaurant. The food was terrible overall but I wonder if it would maybe be better on another day when the normal menu was available??
If the standard is what Hard Rock Cafe is to rock n roll, I would say this is about 30% of...
Read moreAlthough surprisingly empty, it still took quite a while to seat us and find our reservation. Then although we were able to order almost straight away, our visit took over 2 1/4 hours! Other people around us had received their orders apparently faster. We could very slightly be blamed for the total duration by the fact that after around an hour and a half we decided to risk requesting dessert, assuming somewhat naively that that might actually be quicker as the restaurant was pretty much empty by this point. And we assumed cutting a slice from a cheesecake should only take a few minutes. Sadly we were mistaken and after around 30 minutes we nearly requested that they cancelled dessert. The waitresses were somewhat apologetic for the delay but it was not clear what was going on.
One positive is that my parents quite liked their vegetarian option and even said so to the waitress . They got my daughter's order wrong leaving in mayo and coleslaw. As it taken so long to provide her burger there was no chance we were risking asking for it to be rectified as this would add a ridiculous time and she would be eating alone after we had finished, so she just had to scrape it off. My steak looked reasonable/aesthetically pleasing to have rock salt shaved onto it, but this ultimately meant it had far too much salt as I could taste it quite strongly and lumps were remaining on my tongue to spit out. I ended up scraping the rest of the salt off and the steak was reasonable after that apart from going cold quite quickly. The desserts were tiny given the price.
Food going cold quickly was like due to the restaurant being too cold my parents had to wear coats - I was fine but then I'm quite blokey with Northern roots, but I didn't like the food going cold. The decor was kind of adequate, but really not monopoly themed enough in my opinion, especially given that this is a theme restaurant attached to Monopoly life-sized.
I think two, perhaps two and a half stars out of five is reasonable. We are unlikely to be returning. As we are very British, we obviously left the tip on the...

Very NEW nice clean friendly vibe in the restaurant. Had the calamari to start which was average (wish I’d got something else) Then the rump steak which was very very nice soft and not to chewy like proper steak should be, flavour was just right too and Oh my goodness not sure the name of the sauce they served with the steak and hand-cut skin potatoes but it was divine!!! , I even asked for some more to finish with my side order and the staff very kindly gave me 2 more !!
For dessert we opted for the MR. MONOPOLY’S MILLIONAIRE CHEESECAKE which was incredible not to sweet at all and it was light and fluffy very enjoyable and just the right rectangular size something you can finish and enjoy after decent size meal.
The passionfruit tini was phenomenal and MADE RIGHT MIGHT I ADD so sweet & fabulous (which wasn’t on the menu for some reason but I was extremely DELIGHTED to hear they served it)
And last but not least the staff, truly brilliant guest service all of the waitresses / waiters were splendid one even said goodbye as she finished her shift as she was the one who took our order A truly nice touch. I have to mention Amelia in particular who was nothing short of a pleasure she had such a fabulous table side manner and gave off such a radiant vibe and energy making me want to absolutely visit this restaurant again in the very near future ; maybe this time I’ll book the oversized monopoly they have going on next door ;)
PS: you simply cannot go wrong with this...
