I recently stayed at this centrally located hotel and, while I truly appreciated the peaceful atmosphere of the neighborhood and the convenience of its location, my overall experience was disappointing. The room assigned to me was extremely small, no more than five square meters, which left practically no space to move around comfortably. It was so cramped that it was impossible to do something as simple as stretching or a sit-up. Moreover, the temperature inside the room was consistently high for no apparent reason, which made sleeping through the night quite difficult and uncomfortable. Another major drawback was the breakfast service. Not only was the selection very poor, but the setup of the dining area made the experience particularly unpleasant. The space was overcrowded, leaving little room to sit comfortably, and the stools provided were extremely uncomfortable, making it hard to enjoy even a quick meal. Considering that breakfast is often an important part of a hotel stay, this aspect was especially disappointing. On a more positive note, I must acknowledge that the staff were polite and welcoming, and the location itself was excellent, within walking distance of many key attractions. However, these advantages were not enough to compensate for the significant lack of comfort, both in the room and during breakfast. For this reason, I would hesitate to recommend this hotel to travelers who expect a basic level of comfort and convenience during their stay.

I arrived in London before midnight, so I checked in very late. During checking in, the system asked for the reservation number, I only have the itinerary number, so I enter it but the system didn't recognise it. I booked for one room for one person, but I was not expecting that the size of my room is almost similar in prison cell you saw in the movies, no enough space to move around. The bed size is not the usual single bed size rather it is like a trolley bed in A&E or Theatre, no space for you to reposition yourself. The sink is too small where my hands were always touching the faucet when washing. No enough space between the toilet bowl, so I have to sit on slightly different. The ceiling in the toilet is not well managed. On the other hand, the staff is accommodating. The free breakfast is good enough. By the way, I have no energy to complain and asked to change my room since I am too tired and my goal was to sleep asap, hence I need to wake up early the next day to attend a conference, which is the main reason I'm visiting London.

I've been to many bad hotels in my life, but this one is the worst. Location is awesome and it's cheap, but the good things stop there. I've booked a small single room, so my expectations were already very low 'A single room in a 4 star hotel, can't be that bad', was my thinking. It can be pretty horrible. The room is literally the size of a very small bathroom, could never be advertised and sold as room. And how on earth this hotel ended up with 4 stars?! On top of being tiny, the room was cold, the bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom desperately needs renovation. The shower drain was clogged so I couldn't keep the shower on for more than 2 minutes otherwise I'd flood the room (maybe I should have...) Stay away, really. Spend 30 quid more a night to stay in a more decent place, even if it's farther away.

Be extremely careful if you choose to stay here. On the fourth and final night of our stay, we arrived back at our room on the third floor to find two men fixing our door, which had been kicked in - cracking the door frame.

Our room had been ransacked. Suitcase cut open, passport, cash and camera gear stolen (all of our gear was packed into our suitcases at this point, as we had planned to go out, see a show that night and depart early the next morning).

Strangely these two men were fixing our door prior to the police being called - ultimately tampering with a crime scene. Even more strange was that none of the staff seemed too fussed by the whole ordeal, seemingly brushing it off as if no big deal. It wasn’t until my partner ran downstairs in hysterics and crying that the police were called to investigate.

Honestly, the theft seemed far too well orchestrated to merely be unlucky that we were targeted - we believe this was possibly some sort of inside job, with the cleaners potentially scouting our room during the day whilst we were out exploring London (which we did each of the four days we were there).

Our room was conveniently just out of range of any CCTV cameras, and we struggle to understand how nobody heard a heavy, old-fashioned door being kicked in when the hotel is only three floors high with only 20 or so rooms.

When we asked to see the CCTV and speak to the manager (who wasn’t on premises at the time), the staff declined. When the police arrived and asked to see the CCTV and speak to the manager, the staff declined.

We would have left that night if we could, but as my suitcase was cut open and I had just come from Heathrow - we had far too much luggage to carry without a working suitcase.

We were offered another room, and much to our displeasure had to stay another night. The room was on the LG Floor (-1), and we could hear footsteps all night down the stairs and corridor, leading to a rather sleepless night.

After a visit to the Australian Embassy the next morning, we came back to the hotel as we were told the manager would be there at 10am. Close to 11am, the manager finally arrived and we negotiated a full refund of our stay - how can a thief walk past reception, up three stories, know our room has no CCTV coverage, kick in a door and have time to cut open a suitcase and ransack our room, without any staff hearing, seeing or notifying police?

Ultimately the entire ordeal ruined our holiday, as we had to visit the Australian Embassy another two times to get a replacement passport and could not visit our friends in Paris over New Years.

I won’t comment on the breakfast, room size or service we experienced prior to the ordeal - as it is irrelevant. If I could give 0 stars to this hotel I would.

Steer clear of the Bloomsbury Palace Hotel. There are countless other...

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I honestly would. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in and been to London numerous times. Our room was pretty much in the basement with a tiny high window that you can’t reach on one side and a door that leads into an outdoor concrete patch in the other. We had to get housekeeping to come in again on arrival and change all the bedding as it was all still damp. The carpets were all ripped and the walls dirty. There was very very little ventilation in the room and to make matters worse they had been painting the whole downstairs just outside the room door. As an asthmatic this made it very very difficult for me to breathe due to the already lack of ventilation. When reporting this to the front desk and asking if I could be switched to another room they originally said they had nothing available and then had the cheek to say if we wanted a different room we would have to pay. Absolutely disgusting considering I was struggling to breathe in the room due to the strong paint and lack of ventilation. When I requested to speak to a manager there were no managers available and after the front desk staff messaged the manager requesting that I speak to him then and only then did they sort out another room for me. Other than the one woman on the front desk when we arrived on the Tuesday afternoon every other staff member we came across was extremely rude and had no customer service skills whatsoever. When going down for breakfast this morning the choice was very very poor and they had ran out of butter so we couldn’t even have toast. When putting the toast down as it was inedible a blonde lady who seemed to be a staff member eating her breakfast proceeded to give us looks of disgust and just once again downright rudeness. The head office of this hotel chain really need to pay this hotel a visit and give the staff working here some training in customer service and etiquette. If there was someone I could report it to I really would as this hotel should not be...

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Bloomsbury Palace Hotel, and I must admit that my expectations were not met in the slightest. From the moment I entered my room, I was hit with a wave of disappointment that persisted throughout my stay.

First and foremost, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. Stains marred the once-pristine carpet, and the walls seemed to have been neglected for far too long, with patches of unsightly mould evident in various corners. The poor ventilation only exacerbated the issue, making the air feel musty and unwelcoming. It was disheartening to realize that the basic standards of cleanliness and maintenance were sorely lacking.

While the bathrooms had been modernized, I quickly discovered that even a modern facade couldn't mask the underlying problems. The shower fittings were a source of immense frustration. Attempting to adjust the water pressure proved to be a fruitless endeavour, as I could barely coax a weak trickle from the handheld shower. The overhead shower was even worse, rendering it utterly impossible to access. Such issues cast a shadow on what should have been a straightforward and relaxing showering experience.

All in all, my stay at Bloomsbury Palace Hotel was an unfortunate lesson in the importance of thorough research and honest advertising. The lack of cleanliness, the inadequate room ventilation, and the dysfunctional bathroom amenities left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a comfortable and...
