I had the pleasure of dining at a small ramen shop tucked away in a secluded part of town, and I couldn’t be more impressed. The intimate atmosphere, combined with the amazing hospitality and friendliness of the staff, made for a truly memorable experience.

To start, I tried the Age Nasu, a deep-fried aubergine dish served with a sweet dengaku miso sauce. From the first bite, the umami flavor hit perfectly, striking an excellent balance between sweet and savory. It was an incredible way to kick off the meal.

For my main, I went with the classic ramen, and it did not disappoint. The rich, flavorful pork broth was exceptional, and the char siew was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked—not too charred, but full of flavor. The broth was so delicious that I found myself finishing every last drop.

The prices were also very reasonable, making the entire experience feel like great value for money. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, where I plan to try their vegan options, which have been highly praised by other reviewers.

I’ve spent the last month touring London’s lesser-known ramen shops and today I hit Tokoton Ramen, a short walk from Borough tube station.

First up, the atmosphere was lovely. Clean, tidy and some lovely relaxing music. Now… the food.

They have a small menu of ramen, a classic ramen, which is Shoyu based, as well as a miso ramen and a couple of vegan option. I went with the Shoyu classic with some added chilli oil. The soup was a pork and chicken base which was well balanced and worked well with the thin noodles. The chashu was soft and tender and came with a half egg you get as standard. There were some great greens as well as some bamboo. Overall, a really traditional and well balanced bowl. That chilli hit was perfect with a glass of asahi.

I also went with a portion of their chicken Karaage. Made with super tender chicken thighs, the soft batter was a really nice change to the usual super crunchy karaage I’ve had recently.

The food was all beautifully presented, really glad I came. Will be back....

Tokoton Ramen, nestled in a convenient location, offers comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere. While the Miso Ramen diverges slightly from the traditional ramen style, the distinct miso flavor adds a unique twist that's quite enjoyable. The deviation from the classic ramen might not suit purists, but the flavors are intriguing nonetheless. The beer selection, while standard, complements the meal adequately. However, the standout beverages here are the plum wine, boasting a delightful taste that's worth savoring, and the mochi ice cream, an incredible sweet treat that shouldn't be missed. Coupled with the warm and friendly service from the staff, Tokoton Ramen provides a pleasant dining experience with its varied flavors and enticing dessert options. My partner and I loved this restaurant. Cool and quirky decor are set throughout the small and cosy restaurant with a few tables and bar seats. The food was outstanding. Chicken karaage and gyoza tasted great, i especially liked the cabbage dish in chilli oil, light yet spicy. The miso ramen was definitely the star of the show, very rich and creamy, a little oily but super flavourful nonetheless. The egg, pork and other toppings were great with it and the ramen noodles had a satisfying bite. We also tried the classic ramen which tasted slightly sweeter than the miso, both were delicious. Will definitely be coming back to try the other side dishes and the matcha chocolate fondant dessert. Thank you for the meal 🙏
