Visited islington branch with family yesterday and the food was awesome with special mention to the fish tacos, buttermilk chicken tacos, Halloumi tacos, taquitos, zesty bean tostada, veggie nachos and the quesadilla. The desserts we had were very good too with the roasted pineapple with agave and Chipotle glaze especially good as was the chocolate and pecan brownie served warm with good quality vanilla ice cream. Our waitress Sophia was very attentive and courteous and gave specific information about each dish as well the drinks. Cocktails were very nice with the picante margarita our favourite but not for those who don’t like spice. Passion fruit maragarita was very nice too as is their passion fruit martini. Would definitely recommend and better than the Covent Garden branch in my humble opinion. Also less busy and four mins walk from Angel station.

Just had dinner around 8.45pm, I expected way more people for the "cinco de mayo" in a mexican restaurant but anyway the atmosphere was good with great music. Crab Tostada (£7,50): 6/10 Buttermilk Chicken Taco (£7,75): 8/10 Chicken Burrito (£12,50): 8/10 - extra guacamole (£1,75) - grill cheese (£1,25) Basil Mezcalita (£8,25): 9/10 Service Charge 12,5% (£4,87) tot. £43,87 Overall the food was nice, luckily getting better in sequence. The crab tostada didn't have much flavour, but the tostada was super crunchy. The taco had many flavours blending together perfectly and I enjoyed it a lot. The burrito on one side was amazing due to the chicken taste, nice and unexpected; on the other rice and beans lacked some kick. Basil mezcalita was just amazing.

Really good early dinner on Saturday evening. Made a booking & was shown to a nice corner table by the friendly maître d'. The staff seemed new but very friendly & accommodating also (thanks Kevin!). The food was top notch & so tasty, it doesn't disappoint. The pork pibil was smashing & the beef gringa is epic! Honourable mentions too for the chicken avocado & grilled Halloumi. The brownie for dessert was amazing! So many superlatives however one downside seems to be that portions are now smaller. I was sure we got 3 tacos per plate in the past but now only 2. The prices seem to have remained the same though... maybe shrinkflation eh! That being said, really good experience, rounded off by an exuberant game of table football.

Having been to this Wahaca many times in the past, I have always had a good experience. However this one fell short.

As a party of 3, we ordered one rainbow bowl, two sets of tacos, tostadas, nachos, and a sweet potato side. The nachos came within five minutes of us ordering, and the rest of the food followed shortly after. However the rainbow bowl took another 12 minutes to come out (we took photos when our food arrived so we know exactly when it did). By this time, 2 of our party had finished eating, and we had to wait for the third person to be done.

We asked the waitress about the bowl while we were waiting, and she said it was coming. Then a man, who I believe to be a manager or supervisor, came by and asked if everything was okay, we told him about the bowl and he said it takes longer because the chicken is cooked fresh. However, we were sat by the kitchen, and I heard our waitress go and ask one of the chefs about the rainbow bowl, and he checked the orders before beginning to make it, seemingly having missed it or forgotten it initially.

We were offered an apology by our waitress, who was lovely and we understand that it wasn't her fault. However, we were left feeling frustrated with the issue, as it was clear this part of our meal had been forgotten, despite reassurances from two staff members that it was coming. If they'd said it had been forgotten, it would have been fine.

The two stars is for the food (once we did receive it) and our waitress, who was very nice. But this experience has left us feeling very...

Visited for lunch today with a friend. Wahaca’s has been a favourite of ours for a while, the foods always been amazing and have usually had great waiters in a number of branches. My friend had asked for tap water when she arrived first and it had been forgotten, (I’m in remission from cancer and drink a lot of water a day, I’d msgd my friend already there to ask for some.. not that we need an excuse to ask for tap water). When I arrived and shown to our table the waiter came back we politely asked for some tap water and he demanded for us to “ORDER SOMETHING!” Awkward silence.. We did, we felt awkward while ordering food and drinks, it was like he just didn’t want to be there and had a bad attitude. We ordered strawberry & mint coolers and one arrived, my friend had to politely remind the waiter her drink was missing when the main food came. We ordered a dessert to share and my friend got sniggered at. Dumbfounded with his attitude and all the looks towards us. We are just two normal, laid back women in our 30’s trying to enjoy a nice meal. The visit left us feeling shocked and sad at how rude the waiter was when we were trying to enjoy a nice meal out which felt spoilt. It said on our bill we could take the tip off but would have to ask. We left it on as we didn’t want the kitchen staff to go without, I wish we had the guts to call him out in person for the rude/off behaviour, but hate confrontation - we will sadly avoid this branch...

Had a table booked and asked to be seated earlier - no problem at all. Ordered drinks which came quickly. This was the end of the positives for this visit.

Ordered vegetarian nachos to start, and the vegetarian set menu, as we are both vegetarians of several years. The nachos arrived quickly, along with one item of the set menu. Our plates and cutlery were then taken away and we were asked if we wanted desert - despite having about 6 dishes still to come!

The rest of our food was lukewarm when it arrived. We had to ask 4 times for water.

Among our dishes from the vegetarian set menu was a quesidilla which contained chorizo. My husband, because he was safe in the knowledge he had ordered the vegetarian set menu, ate the majority of it before realising. He had not eaten meat for several years and was quite ill as a result. I was flabbergasted and can't believe we were served a meat based product as part of a vegetarian menu.

The staff were apologetic and did what they could but it should NEVER have happened. I have attempted to reach out to Wahaca via social media but they are not responding.

I've always enjoyed Wahaca as they offer good vegetarian options, but this incident has cost...
