River side horror: Well where do I start, words sometimes fail me but with my gcse in English I will try best to depict the situation that enfolded. Entering the humble abode, I stepped upon the wooden cabin and felt delight at being on a river to eat as that is something I have never experienced before. After glancing at the what I call menu, I approached the counter to order what I wanted to eat along with what my companions wanted to eat and also what we wanted to drink. Looking across, the waitress was slumped over the till, and became baffled when I asked if I could please order some food. After eventually getting through, I ordered and took my place at a slimy wooden table and sat on a chair. So did the food arrived eventually and when slapped down onto the table my dear words failed me. Dry dry tuna with no mayonnaise was plonked on top of a jacket potato so small indeed do I require a magnifying glass to see it. The tuna were so dry my throat was choking as I scrambled to get rid of it. The beans of my daughter were so cold and slimy that her young stomach began to wobble. Could this get any worse my mind rang well I tragically had to pay £40 for this comical dining experience. Furthermore, was I just further disturbed by the bitter waitress who remained in front of me blocking my view of the river, and jerking Lipton tea bottles asymmetrically onto the fridge. I thought dear weren’t you raised in the etiquette of lining your bottles in a neat row? But I did hold back as you never know one’s circumstances. But this is the moment I was tipped over the edge, the dry tuna had got me down but I went further with what I saw. She shoved some water bottles onto the shelve and then flung the bag of the water bottles that remained unbruised onto the floor in the middle of the boat leaving what I call a clear and severely dangerous potentially hazard to me and the rest of what most call the general public.
I applaud all that go, if you fancy choking on tuna on the riverside surrounded by folks of misery this is for you my dear.
P.S there was no...
Read moreWaterside Cafe is an absolute gem. Tucked along the edge of the water, this cozy spot offers more than just great coffee—it’s an experience. The view alone is worth the visit, with peaceful waterfront scenery that makes it the perfect place to relax, read, or catch up with friends.
We recently stumbled upon the Waterside Cafe whilst out for a morning stroll, and I couldn’t be more delighted. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm, cozy atmosphere and the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. I ordered a flat white and it was smooth, rich, and expertly made. Their selection of teas and specialty drinks is also impressive, and the baristas clearly know their craft. I also tried some of their freshly made breakfast pancakes —fresh, warm, and just the right amount of sweet.
What really sets Waterside Cafe apart is the atmosphere. The seating is comfortable, the music is mellow and tasteful, and there’s a quiet energy that makes you want to stay a while.
The staff are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seem to enjoy being there, which adds to the overall charm. It was actually my daughters birthday when we visited, and immediately the staff arranged for a cake to be brought out to her (without me having to request) and then everyone on the boat sung Happy Birthday to her. A memory we will never forget and a wonderfully kind and thoughtful gesture by the staff. They also were quick to offer my son a “babyccino”which he absolutely loved!
If you’re looking for a calm, beautiful place with excellent drinks and a relaxing vibe, Waterside Cafe is a must-visit. Highly...
Read moreTerrible service. Guy on the counter had no interest in serving us, and seemed completely spaced out or hung over!
He said they'd run out of panninis so would we be ok with toasties instead (fair enough) only to see 5 mins later the same staff member having a pannini for his own lunch!
3 of our 4 orders arrived and we waited for the last one (mine!) but no sign for ages. I asked about 15 mins later and they just shrugged and started preparing it with no sense of urgency whatsoever.
When it finally arrived, I asked if they could replace my coffee which had gone cold while I waited for my meal. No apology, just said they could warm up the old one. When I complained to say it had gone cold due to their fault and me waiting for my meal while my family had theirs, she made up an excuse that she thought this was a new order (no chance, as they take payment at the time of ordering!!) and so ok, they will make me a fresh coffee. Still no apology.
Very rude, no care for customers. Hope others don't get caught out in...
