So extremely disappointed. Would not recommend to anyone. There are so many other places, that actually cares and looks after you, in London.
Meet and greet by the door (downstairs) ... What you would expect.. Nothing mind blowing.
Reception at the terrace ... Once again, nothing mind blowing.
We were 5 friends celebrating a birthday. Mood is up from a previous place, so excited to not only celebrate a birthday but also being out.
We paid £20 each for glass of champagne and Antipasto platter , wich is fair enough and no complaints so far.
What we actually got: -Quarter of a glass of "champagne", quarter is a key word! -Antipasto platter (kindly, please Google to familiarise what antipasto platter is) - we received tasteless Bruschetta platter (smallest I've ever seen) with four olives (zero exaggeration)
Confusion is how I would describe our feelings. Mood was gone, instantly!!
We've tried to order shots to brighten our mood, from the poor service we received so far, guess what? Nope... The main bar is downstairs and they are unable to get it... No alternatives... I guess is to much to ask for.
You smoke? Oh sadly it's a roof top with no smoking allowed, unless you are willing to go all the way down to street level.
From a get go, you feel trapped, lied and oversold/promised.
Left way earlier than anticipated.
Wanted to pay the bill, none (3 in fact) card readers didn't work. Then they had audacity to say we dint pay part of our bill, which staff with a calculator could not add simple numbers. After getting it write with calculations and staff being wrong, no apology for a mistake made by staff.
Our waiter called the manager on our request. The person listened to what we had to say. Thanked for a feed back, but sadly nothing else was done. It just felt we spoke to a "number" (higher management, its all on you and not the staff you employed) who could not do anything to make our evening more enjoyable.
I felt sorry for staff who works there and disappointed with the company. Place...
Read moreWe visited the Skylark and the experience was terrible:
We had a pre-paid booking at 10.30 - we were sharp on time but nobody greeted us. I asked in the bar and they said they had nothing to do. I went to reception and the security guy said this was to be arranged with the bar I went back to the bar and the girl didn't know what I was talking about. She had to talk to a number of people - nobody seemed to have a clue! Finally, a woman arrived - she did not apologise for the wait and instead said to relax. At this point we had been waiting for 15 minutes! For a 2 hour booking this is not OK We were taken upstairs where we were supposed to get a glass of champagne - we never got this! We sat at a table, in the sun - we assumed the place would fill out so we didn't complain but when over an hour passed and nobody else arrived we began to wonder why we were not offered the shade, given all tables were empty I asked for a table in the shade which was provided but seriously we should have been offered this, the sun was burning - given all tables in the shade were empty! The mimosa was absolutely FOUL! The oranges they used was past the date and the mimosa was sour - so was the glass of orange juice. There was no music. When they switched on the music about 30 minutes in, it kept coming in and out and the speaker close to us had a horrible noise/feedback When we were about to leave then we realised a girl was serving champagne for other guests - we were upset as to why we did not get this
Finally, when we contacted Skylark to complain we never got an answer or any type of feedback. I would NOT recommend this place at all and I will certainly...
Read moreWe were “greeted” downstairs at a kiosk and given wristbands, the welcome was cold, to be honest. The staff member had to call up to the bar to check if we were “allowed” in, which felt awkward and uninviting.
Upstairs, the space itself is great, sunny, nice setup, and a DJ was playing. But the music was seriously underwhelming. It was advertised as “Miami vibes,” but what we got was flat, forgettable house music with no energy or flow. The DJ wasn’t even behind the decks half the time, she spent a lot of time away to take photos for guests or posing with her friend. It felt like she was more interested in her own Instagram content than creating any kind of atmosphere for the crowd. At one point, it genuinely felt like the music was just running off a playlist in the background.
Which is a shame, because the service was excellent. The staff upstairs were attentive, friendly, and quick to adjust things like umbrellas when the sun got intense. Can’t fault them at all, they were the highlight of the experience.
But overall, the vibe just wasn’t there. The music was a big letdown, especially with the £7 entry fee, we expected a proper DJ set or at least someone who cared about what they were playing. Cocktails are around £14 each, bottles of wine and beer are all fairly standard prices, but with that plus the cover charge, you’d hope for a better atmosphere.
With a real DJ and better music, this place could be a great hangout. But as it is, it felt flat and overpriced for what you...
