We met our daughter and her boyfriend for Sunday lunch. On arrival we were met warmly and shown to our table. I didn't ask the staffs names but they were excellent, very friendly and very professional. After sitting down we were asked about our drink order and the drinks were soon brought to our table Our food order was then taken and we all went for the roasts, 3x roast chicken and 1x roast beef. When the food arrived the portions were generous and we were soon tucking in. All I can say is that the food was made up of high quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. It was without a doubt the nicest roast beef I have ever tasted but the real star of the show was the roast potatoes, literally go for the beef stay for the roast potatoes. I don't think they're prepared and cooked in house, I believe angels prepare them then deliver them to the restaurant. They really are that good. I would kill for the recipe. We couldn't resist dessert and had 2x tiramisu (and I was surprised at the sizes, they don't skimp with the portions). One apple and damson crumble and one triple chocolate brownie. All were delicious. Drinks wise we had G&T, Camden pale ale, bourbon and cokes and a rather nice lager I have not tried before but whose name escapes me. After this treat we all were extremely full and extremely happy. A huge thank you to all the staff. We had an amazing time and we will return. On leaving the guy who had welcomed us on arrival, thanked us and we shook hands. I really cannot commend the Warwick castle too highly. It's a gem and we'll...

Top 5 worst roasts of all time. I'm sorry to say this because I never really write bad reviews but this was bad enough that I couldn't stay silent. I ordered the 1/2 chicken and expected it to be an amazing meal. Being situated in such an area and with a £23 price tag only fuelled my disappointment for what I received further. The chicken was dry. Not just a little dry but literally crumbling, any drier and I'd literally die of suffocation. The portion of meat was quite generous however the accompanying vegetables and potatoes were lacking, especially the size of the Yorkshires! It said on the menu that it came with gravy, but instead I was given a bowl of some sort of puree that came as quite a shock when I started pouring, didn't help that the taste was diabolical. So the dryness of the meat was even further enhanced by the lack of gravy and accompanying vegetables that could have made up for this attack on my throat. This wasn't just a problem with the chicken, everyone on my table who ate something said theirs was dry too and for that level of price is unacceptable. It pains me to write this for it is a nice pub. Our waitress was lovely and the pub is a lovely quaint little place. The drinks were nice, that's something at least? But yeah, I'm not returning. I could get a much better meal for half the price at Toby carvery (although due to recent events I would not be attending currently) where I'd be able to get so much more at a much higher quality for so much less. Overall, definitely in my top 5 most...

Been going to this pub over the years and can’t fault the location. However, a group of four all had a few nibbles one weekend recently and for days afterwards had terrible stomach complaints. We felt best to report it to be on side of caution, and would have just left it at that.

However, the ‘head office’ from Greene King (chain owners alas), were entirely dismissive. There was simply ‘no chance’ a group of four, all from separate households, who came to the pub for 2 hours and felt terrible for days after, could have picked this up at the pub. This I’m afraid is simply not the ideal way to treat customers who had only the intention of passing on feedback. To dismiss out of hand is not what we accept.

We then looked at reviews others have offered of the pub and the food. Not all are good. Therefore the chances of our stomach complaints having originated at the pub, should never have been dismissed out of hand.

Additionally, on the day we visited we spent much less time than planned. Unfortunately the atmosphere where apparently new, inexperienced staff are being almost reprimanded for how they are serving drinks, made us feel uncomfortable and we left.

Anyway, not to be say more than if we were ever to revisit the pub, food for us, would be...

This is a good pub, however they need to take a look at some of the prices and the layout of the pub. First, the prices. As you can see from the picture, you can get some decent halloumi fries. However, for 4 pinky sized fries, they cost £7! They tasted okay but its a silly amount of money for very little. Second, the layout. There is no need for one (or any) fixed machine at the bar when you have seats. It means anytime someone comes to the bar for a drink they need to climb over you to pay. I like this pub, they do a good pint, and the atmosphere so what you look for. Because of this, I will come back in the future! Management, please take these points into account for the better of the pub.
