So firstly just to say the staff were lovely, but unfortunately the hotel is really not a 4 star, not even close. I was originally given a basement single bed, after dinner I spoke to reception as I just couldn't face going back to the room, it smelt damp there isn't enough room to move there let alone add an ironing board and iron! Reception were nice and a manager (I'm guessing took over) and agreed to move me to a better room, he said did then say as it's one night I can have one of the best rooms. I did say no need just wanted a double bed, an iron and ironing board. Went to grab bag and come back to collect new key. Room was a duplex, bathroom, small kitchenette and sofa downstairs and bedroom upstairs. Looks good to start with. No iron though so tried calling reception and no answer!! The large double height window looks amazing but doesn't actually close, nothing at the bottom to close it as its broken and top a little too high!! Curtains and voil was horrible, lots of stains and even burn marks. I would estimate they haven't been cleaned since they were put up in the 80s or 90s!! The bedroom at least looked like nice and there was aircon. Just unfortunate that the walls are made of paper, upstairs sounds like they were doing excerices and later I had the pleasure of hearing them snore all night, I would have left the aircon on to drown it but that was rattling every 15 minutes so had to turn it off. Finally the bed, looked massive and comfortable but sods law it's two beds put together (should have just stayed in the basement!!). The side of I chose was so old it actually leans towards the floor. How old does a mattress need to be to do that?!! Oh one last thing, they stairs are a killer, nails sticking up and no slippers to use so got to put your shoes on everytime you use them. The hotel has the potential to be beautiful, the staff are lovely enough but maybe try using it yourselves and see how you feel about it. I'll chalk it's down to a bad night, not the worst I've ever had.

Stayed two nights. Got room 555 which is across the street from the reception at the end of basement (floor -1). No cellular signal available and wi-fi was not working. Receptionist was kind to go with me to the room to help fix wifi access but at the end it did not work. He said it is IT department matter and they are not available at the moment (ok it was late in the evening), but nothing was done about it for next night neither. Room was nice and clean but window was to the sky light with constant run of some residual water (fortunately not the sewage) Constant noise of the "waterfall" coming through closed windows was not amusing. I was promised by the guy who check me in, to get relocated for second night but next day new person told me they are fully booked and cannot help me... I booked room with breakfast but after waiting for 10min for a table i was told that mine is only continental and if I pick from warm buffet (which was very limited not worth to pay anything extra), I will be charged extra. I did not care for that but felt like they want to squeeze few pence extra on 150 GBP per night charge for the room. Leaves bed taste and adds to odd experience with the hotel. They could let it go as compensation for inconvenience in the room. Stuff was polite and apologetic, but this does not fix disappointing overall impression of the stay. Maybe if I got in some more "pristine" location of the building it actually could be descent stay as location is convenient and conditions of the rooms and lobby quite ok. But if one risk putting guest in the basements without basic service of wi-fi one risk disappointed guest no matter how good all other aspects of the hotel are.

Our stay of one night on June 9th was utterly unacceptable. While many of the things that were wrong - the fallen mirror over the desk, and the state of the couch cushions, among many others - were cosmetic, the condition of the mattress that my son had to sleep on was not cosmetic. It was unhealthy. There were metal springs poking through the cover of the mattress. He received scratches from them. When I explained this to Jeana Rodriguez, the manager on duty at the time of our checkout, she said that no one had ever noticed the condition of the mattress before. I find that extremely hard to believe. Once the sheets are stripped from the mattress, one can clearly see the holes and the metal springs issuing from them. I can only conclude one of two things, either the condition was known to management and ignored, or housekeeping chose not to tell management. Both options are certainly not worthy of a 4 Star hotel. She also said that we should have notified the front desk and that they would have moved us. By the time my son realized that the mattress was scratching him, it was 1:30 or 2:00 in the morning. He is 13 years old and did not want to wake his parents. He told us at about 4 in the morning. Ms. Rodriguez said that I should email them and include pictures and that they would take some remunerative steps. However, I have emailed them repeatedly and I have gotten no reply. I have included pictures of the terrible state of the room in addition to pictures of the scratches that my son incurred from sleeping on the mattress.

Hi friends Short and sweet ver: Nice reception staff, okay room but room service cleaning option isn’t very clean, breakfast serving & room cleaning staff aren’t very friendly/welcoming and okay location.

Long and detailed:

ROOMS Had a room for 3, everything was alright but there are a few things worth noting. Both knobs for the toilet and the windows are rusty and difficult to use, they continually get jammed and stuck and we have reported the reception on this matter. We have just resulted to never shutting the toilet door and windows just to prevent any unwanted lockouts. The toilet’s sink is also very inconveniently placed, assuming that majority of the guests are right handed, as much of the world’s population is, the sink’s handle is placed very far off to the right, leaving only a few centimetres of space to move your right elbow about, i.e. for washing your face or brushing teeth. This is a mild issue but an issue none the less. The layout of the room was also another strange thing, for the room we were in, we entered through a little corridor, first passing the toilet, which proved to be a rather tight squeeze when you’re coming in and out of the toilet between two people. There was also only the one chair to sit on, other than the beds so when we had takeout we all had to either stand eating or sit on the bed, but it was particularly distressing as we were partly drenched from the english rain, so the beds were soaked as well…

STAFF SERVICE Receptionists and Bellboys The receptionist and bellboys were unbelievably kind and helpful. They were honestly the highlight of the stay: Stella, Fahee, Janee & Sacha made a lovely impression on us all. They were helpful when we prepaid breakfasts each day, and when we requested bottles of water / change of towels (due to the mix up of room cleaning service).

Breakfast waiters / waitresses & Cleaning Services I have much to say about this. Unfortunately, they did not make us feel welcome. Firstly, the breakfast staff were not accommodating. When they greeted us by the door they didn’t seem all too happy, given this is 7/8am in the morning so we are all a little grumpy, but I’d reckon a polite smile/greet in the morning will do especially since we are paying guests. They also always seemed to collect out plates very fast after we’re done eating, as if to quickly shoo us away after we’ve finished so they could get their job done quicker. We felt pressured to eat fast so it was not an enjoyable experience. We once asked if there was any bottled water left as we wanted to drink water first thing in the morning, but one of the waitresses actually said ‘sorry, we’re out of water.’ But not 15 minutes later, another woman asked for water and was given a bottle! They seemed to have found their bottled water supplies within 15 minutes. (The next day when we were coming back to the hotel, there was a delivery of bunches of water, so if we were denied again, we had photographic proof to say hey, your bottles of water was delivered.) The cleaning service staff were not very good at cleaning as well, sure they made the bed and changed the towels, but they didn’t hoover the floors, so the toilets were not the most clean when we returned during the evening. They were also not the most nicest people to talk to, they felt a little cold if not hostile actually.

LOCATION A good location, about 5 minutes walk and easy to navigate to Paddington station and taxi drivers seem to find their way pretty easily to the hotel. Nothing else to comment here.

OVERALL For a 4 star boutique hotel, i recommend them reviewing this into a 3 or 3.5 stars, as there’s nothing outstanding for a 4 star recommendation. Would I recommend this? You could come here if you’ve got no where else to stay. But i bet you are able to find somewhere nicer with more...

Location: It is at a six-minute walking distance from the Paddington underground station. The tricky part is the hotel also owns many other properties on the same lane and the other side too. You must clarify with the booking team which building are they allocating you for the booking. We were at first given the option of staying at a room in the other lane and then I insisted on the room of the booked building. So be clear with the idea of the location of the building before confirming your stay. Room: We were given an attic room for our parents, they had upgraded the room and we were provided with complimentary wine and chocolates. It was really a warm gesture and we appreciate it howsoever, it would be advisable if they could clarify the location being an attic room without a lift for that particular building, we had to access the lift from a different building and had to climb a flight of very small stairs to reach the room. It would be perfectly fine by us and even adventures but this room is not recommended for families or elderly people. The room was spacious, the washroom was incredibly small and the heater did not work for a while. Staff: Our booking was for two nights and on the first night I was adamant about cancelling. I had booked via third-party Agoda and their customer service could not provide me with any help. Hence, I headed down to the reception and informed him of the lack of heating in the room. He patiently understood our problem and provided us with a heater and then even secured a warm blanket for my parents. His gestures throughout our stay were very cordial and helpful, my parents were staying all alone and his hospitality made their stay comfortable. He helped my father navigate his way back to the room which was rather confusing and assisted him with every query. Truly sometimes even though a property disappoints you, it is the behaviour of the staff that reminds you of the joy of going on a vacation. I truly wish I could find a room in the main building, however, I think finding a booking in the main building will remain a challenge for people from my nation. It is a great hotel with various branches of building, but I would not recommend anyone to stay without being properly informed of the rooms. I am thankful to the night manager for turning my otherwise disappointing experience into this incident that I can recall with a laugh later. His behavior assured me that humanity...
