I called into this pub on Friday evening as all the other pubs in the local area were "cashless " "card only" places which is a shame because many people don't use cards! The staff were very friendly and experienced, there was a disabled toilet which for me being disabled was a god send( no stairs to climb)! I found a dartboard in this pub which was a very nice edition, the general manager Natalie bond answered all my questions and was most helpful in regards to me being disabled. Read moreI stayed upstairs at the White Horse and Bower back in 1966 and again in 1969. My aunt and uncle lived there and ran the place. They worked very hard from morning until midnight every day. I used to pilfer Smith's Crisps from the bar during closed hours and played pool on the big billiard table.
My aunt proudly told me about two of their celebrity guests. Patrick MacNee of "The Avengers," and Freddie of "Freddie and the Dreamers."
Of course, I was there too, so that makes three.

The food was prepared and quickly delivered. The staff was friendly and easy going. The bar tender (manager?) was very knowledgeable about the large selection of beers and was spot on with his recommendation based on my tastes.
