Woolf & Whistle Bar — Restaurant in London

Food was pretty bad. Paid 20£ each for two steak meals. The steak was brutally tough. I had to cut the steak for my 13-yr old while my wife held the plate steady. My 17-yr old asked for a sharp knife from the kitchen and was able to power through it, but at the cost of scattering the chips and other garnishments from the plate (again required my wife to hold the plate to keep it from sliding all around). The steaks were cooked properly to the right doneness (one medium, the other medium rare), so it wasn't like they were overcooked, just a horrible cut of meat.

Great service, staff are genuinely very friendly! However the food was a huge let down. Ordered the steak and it came completely well done, after ordering med-rare. They remade the dish happily, however it came back rare and lacking in all flavour aspects. The peppercorn sauce was very watery and had no taste at all. We use this hotel for work trips all the time and often end up in the bar for drinks and sometimes food. The bar food is fine for what it is (the Indian restuarant is fantastic!). But the service in here is always exceptional, so friendly and attentive. The staff all seem genuinely happy and interested in the customer experience.
