Outstanding service, fantastic food, charming interior.
🐐 Goat Osso Bucco— The highlight. Smells fabulous. Tastes wonderful. I literally emptied the bowl. The meat is so tender and easily falls off the bone. Very is impressive for goat meat, which is usually rougher than lamb even when slow cooked. It’s the best goat dish I’ve tried! There’s also some softened tendon. And the marrow! The tomato-based curry is rich, complex, and hear-warming. (I came here after reading the good reviews about the lamb racks, but I hesitated when reading “Grandma‘s secret recipe, Chef Amit Bagyal‘s favourite” 😅 can’t resist these nostalgic words. The waiter also mentioned it’s spicier and more flavorful than the lamb dish. And it’s a rare cut and it’s not on the set menu.) Good to know the spiciness has been toned down for local guests. I’ll see if I can get one in the chef’s “home-style” next time.
The rice is subtly spiced and not really salted. A little bland and oily on its own, but goes well with the main and adds sparkles of cumin flavors when thrown into the curry. The garlic naan is also slightly too oily.
On the other hand, the garlic flavor is just right, aromatic, garlicky, not overpowering. Good on its own or dipped into the curry. I might have skipped the bread had I known the curry would come with rice… I also thought about taking half of the naan to-go… But today I shall pamper myself with carbs.🫄
🥟 Vegetable Momos— Also recommended by the waiter. Though m the chicken one is popular, I needed some veggie. And the other option in my mind was the aubergine side anyways. (The kitchen sent the chicken ones at first by mistake— tempting.) No regret. It’s beautiful. A proper starter. Light, and tasty. The dumpling skin is elastic with crispy edges. The sauce is warm and tomatoey. I just wish my garlic naan can come earlier so that I can wipe clean the plate.
🔔 The service is attentive without being intrusive. Special thanks to Ghan (hope I spelled right), good recommendations and most importantly, proud of the food ^^
I also like the elegant design, the miniature paintings, and the mellow jazz music in the background.
Overall, a decent place for families, friends, colleagues, and solitary diners too ;) Not cheap, and I enjoyed it. The quality of ingredients and ambience— That’s how you elevate a cuisine.
Minor point: I don’t know why my OpenTable reservation didn’t show in their system. Fortunately it’s quite empty at noon this Friday. Also the New Lunch menu on the website does not seem to be available here… No more temptation from the burgers and wraps for me, but small discrepancies like these are quite unsettling. Confirm before you go if you really want a...
Read moreI visited Yaatra a few weeks ago. I have visited Atul Kotchers restaurants previously and I feel like this restaurant isn't like his others.
So, our table booking was at 6.00pm fine the restaurant was pretty quite which I was surprised about then around 7pm the restaurant got busy. So the service at start was great because there was only 2 guests at the restaurant. The two men were serving one in a waistcoat and one in a black shirt. The manager has gone elsewhere for about an hour. Around 7pm when the restaurant was busy it was possibly 2 or 3 staff serving and guests were getting annoyed. The manager came out around 7 30pm. Not sure what she was doing. The staff were giving preferable treatment to this Irish women and her family. Apparently she has visited the restaurant numerous times. So the manager only deciated her time to them. Other guests were complaining why the staff in the black shirts could not take orders.
One of the black shirts staff gave a drink to the Irish family. The lady went to grab it (when the guy was placing it on the table) and the drink fell everywhere. The lady who had.booked the table was sooooo loud which causes commotion for no reason. In general she was super loud. The guy felt bad and I am sure he got told off on site. Which isn't nice to see as a dining guest. He genuinely looked lost and upset. It was be better if the staff in black shirts were giving directions instead of following the staff in waistcoats. They looked like lost puppy dogs. The manager wasn't great she gave us our bill without our offer deducted. She kept looking at the junior staff which I would describe as the look of death. If you're front of house I believe you should be ensuring your staff are and look happy not about to cry.
Food was 8/10 the portions were slightly on the smaller side.
I would visit again but there needs to be more inventive vegetarian and...
Read moreA mixed bag of inconsistencies in food and service, among some truly delicious highlights and a fantastic ambiance. Worth a visit but do leverage expectations.
Visited for a new year's weekend dinner. The ambiance of the restaurant is inspiring. Guests are well received by well-dressed staff, and the interior is perfectly thematic and mood-setting. Options for dining experiences are plentiful, from sharing an assortment of starters and accompaniments, to more structured multi-course sittings. Food was well presented and equally matched in flavour and spice. Highlights and must-try's were the dal makhani, grilled prawns and lamb racks (when served to temperature).
Unfortunately the dining experience was mired with inconsistencies. Lamb racks are served two per plate, and two plates were ordered by the group to the chef's recommendation of medium. All four lamb racks served were of different temperature. One plate a delicious medium and a rather bland well done. The other a medium rare and rare, which while flavourful, was dismissed as medium by the waiter.
The chicken main ordered to the table was undercooked, but to the credit of the staff was replaced with another dish without a fuss.
For desserts, the incredibly plated fruity flambé was seemingly not.. flambéed. In addition, the order for dessert cocktails was completely ignored and did not reach the table until desserts were up, bill was payed and the sitting was over.
Overall, staff seemed quite inattentive once seated. No one checked in on the table during the evening, replaced / refilled the table water or asked if more drinks were of interest when glasses were nearing empty.
A three-star experience, but to the price of the menu and ambition of the restaurant, a...
