I was at nearby LSE for the day, and wanted to watch the Six Nations Rugby very shortly after my event finished. So I went here as they showed live sport and we advertising the six nations games.
As a pub, it's good, loved they had Murphys on draft which I haven't seen in decades. Staff were friendly and helpful. But, as a pub to watch sports, this probably isn't the one to head too if you want to watch sports. The TVs are not well positioned and although they did put the sound on, it's a busy city pub so you couldn't hear it. Not really the pubs fault of course. There was live music advertised at 7pm, at about 6:45pm, with a few minutes to go, in an Incredibly tense 1 point, missed a kick at the end hat would have won it rugby game. When, at this point, 75% of the pub was glued to the TVs. The band started their set 15 mins early. Just 2 more minutes, and no problems.
Good enough pub for a drink, but I'd avoid it for any sport if you actually want to...
Read moreI've been a regular at this pub for about 4 years, coming in about 3 days a week with my sports group who train at the LSE. I've noticed a sharp decline in service, particular from the Landlord, during my time coming here.
This stems from a Landlord who appears to have no time, respect or consideration for customers he sees three times a week. Interesting, seeing as we no doubt contribute significantly to the revenue of his pub.
The service was once good - very good food, polite staff, a nice haven away from the hustle and bustle of London and university life. Now, due to a rude, discriminating, belittling and likely very sad and lonely and ignorant Landlord, our team has decided to take service elsewhere.

Read moreTerrible place. Do not go here! Incredibly rude staff. A friend and I went to fill some time, no more than an hour, between talks at LSE. We both bought a pint and loosely watched the rugby. Before I had even got half way through my pint we were both hassled multiple times by the staff to buy another drink. As soon as we'd finished our drinks we were told we had to buy another or leave. I would have been happy to buy something else if it wasn't for the discourtesy and pushiness of the staff. You are much better off in one of the many other pubs around this area, The Old Bank of England...
