Used to be really good, but service is quite slow now. Booked in for my girlfriends birthday at 1.30pm on a Saturday. I paid in advance for two bottles of Rose Prosecco. Only one on the table as we arrive and not enough glasses. We had to grab a member of staff to bring the second bottle and we took a clean glass off another table. We also pre-ordered a few dishes for the table, again we had to grab someone ourselves after a few drinks to say we were ready for our food. Nobody came to check on us or ask. In terms of food, it was good enough. My girlfriend said the tempura prawns were a bit too fishy (which isn't the best sign). You also don't get many of them for the price. We also had padron peppers, garlic bread and cheese and fries. All were fine. If anything the garlic bread and cheese could have been a little more well done/crispy. There was 10 of us eating/drinking in total so the table quickly filled with empty glasses and plates. We kept having to get up to get staff. One of the people I asked for help said "you can use the QR code". He was very polite about it, but my only problem is there is no option to request a table clean or certain service (like additional sauces) when you scan the QR code. Because of this you think more members of staff would walk around and check tables, especially ones as big as ours that are likely to fill up quicker, but they didn't. I will say that every time we did get a member of staff, they moved quickly and were great but we shouldn't have had to get them in the first place! The QR code isn't an excuse to sit back, cut corners and inconvenience people who are out to spend money and enjoy themselves. You still work in hospitality so do the same duties you did pre-covid or people will...
Read moreI arrived at Dukes 92 at around 11:10 AM and parked in the car park intending to work for a few hours on my laptop. As I parked, I noticed people sitting at tables inside the restaurant who appeared to be looking out of the window at me.
When I walked into the venue and approached the bar, there didn’t seem to be anyone serving. I asked one of the staff what time they opened, and he informed me that they opened at 11:30 AM for drinks and 12:00 PM for food. I decided to take a walk and return later.
When I returned, there were people sitting outside and a few standing around inside. Nobody said hello as I entered. I decided to sit at a table and order through the QR code, as I have done many times before. After scanning the QR code, I noticed that no hot drinks were available. Wanting to double-check if this was a fault with the system or if they were genuinely not serving hot drinks, I decided to approach the bar.
Before doing so, I quickly entered my car registration number into the parking machine to avoid any penalties. As I approached the bar, I noticed a man and a woman who appeared to be part of the management team — they had been present earlier when I arrived.
I stood at the bar waiting to be served, but no one came over. The two “managers” continued to glance over at me and then look away, making no effort to assist. After waiting for several minutes and feeling increasingly uncomfortable, I decided I was clearly not welcome and left the venue. As I returned to my car, I noticed the same two “managers” staring out of the window at me once again.
Overall, the experience was very disappointing. I felt unwelcome and ignored, and sadly, I left without ever...
Read moreGreat food ruined by awful service. We all made our orders, and followed by a long wait (not an issue), our first dish was delivered to the wrong table, next to us. They began eating the food but realised afterwards when another dish was delivered that it wasn't theirs. A server told us they would remake our meal. At this point, about 15 minutes had passed since the food meant for me arrived, but no drink had arrived at the table. I went to the bar to ask about this, where they said I must have either put in the wrong number or moved tables (we did neither). They eventually gave me my drink at the bar, but when I returned to the table it had finally been served (about 35 minutes after ordering and 15 minutes after my food had arrived but at the wrong table). I gave the drink I ordered back to the bar and apologised, but such a large wait between food and drink led to a lot of confusion at the table.
Eventually, I got my food, which was very good, the only saving grace here. The person I was here with had to wait another 15 minutes for the same dish, roughly 30 minutes after the first one had been wrongly served next to us. It was served with no cutlery, and he had to get up and find some himself. The food was good but otherwise everything was a bad experience. Our main server was very nice to us and apologetic, but everything else was accusatory and stressful.
We were in the bar area, which may have been an issue. If you come here, maybe try either not to come at a peak time like Sunday lunch or reserve a table in the restaurant area, which may run a...
