We called in to try the cheese lunch. Ā£9 for a choice of three cheeses or a mix of cheese and pate, with sliced brown bread. We decided to just get one serving as the cheese was a good size between two. We chose cheddar, Shropshire blue and the duck and orange pate. The only downside was there were no pork pies, we did go early on a Monday. My partner just had a lager and I had a blackcurrant juice. Amy behind the bar was so friendly and helpful and promised the pork pies would be in later that day, so will definitely return to try them.    Read moreFirst came here in the late 1970's. Always been a gem of a Marston's pub. Thus having a great pint of Pedigree. Famous for the lunchtime cheese and pate selection. In the old days the massive cheeses were displayed on the bar and cut to order. Carried in and out from upstairs every lunchtime. Doggie bags a must due to the amount of cheese, pate, bread and pickles. Despite a fire the pub is little changed.( The Music Hall posters did not survive.)
