We ate here when it first opened, starters and mains were really good so we returned last night for another family meal. Unfortunately this was very disappointing. They were busy the food and service was poor and they seemed to be struggling to cope. The menu clearly states all meals are served with Turkish bread, salad etc. We were quickly given some salad bread dips and olives which we were told were complimentary. The salad was small had too much dressing, the bowl had a puddle of water in the bottom. We ordered calamari, haloumi and rice for the kids, the calamari had too much panto, was rubbery and tasted like it was straight out of a freezer bag, the kids rice never arrived. I ordered CHICKEN ISKENDER, described as Chargrilled chicken on skewers, served on toasted bread, tomato sauce, yogurt & drizzled with butter. I expected chunks of grilled meat on crisp toasted Turkish bread with a little tomato sauce and yoghurt. What I got I can only describe as a big bowl of tomato soup with some chopped up toast and chopped overcooked chicken and a blob of crème fresch. The toast was soggy mush and despite the chicken being in a sauce it had a dry texture. It was very bland. It came with cold rice topped with cold lentils. I waited for the salad etc as but it didn’t arrive. The waiter was quite rude told us we had already had the bread salad and dips, didn’t seem to care that the meal was not as described and quite unpleasant. I complained several times but he clearly wasn’t bothered. My partner ordered SARMA LAMB BEYTI, it was more like a kofta wrapped in a chapati, chopped up and drowned in the same under seasoned tomato soup and crème fresch. Soggy bland and disappointing We didn’t eat most of the mains, when we asked for the bill the waitress asked if the meal was ok and we said no, she laughed as if it were a joke. Another waiter knocked my main off the bill but failed to understand or care that our family meal had been ruined by bland overpriced low quality food and poor service. I hope someone who cares about our poor experience takes this on board as our first meal there was great, we want this to be a good restaurant as we like Turkish food and...
Read moreMy daughter and I recently visited for breakfast, and it was an experience to cherish. Being Turkish and originally from north London I was feeling a bit homesick and I spotted Zeugma's morning menu while strolling on the high street. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with a beautiful blend of traditional Turkish decor and modern touches. We decided for the full Turkish breakfast which comes with Turkish tea, and it was a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The spread included an array of fresh cheeses, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, grilled helim/halloumi, sucuk (Turkish sausage), turkish honey, sour cherry jam, turkish clotted cream and fresh bread. Each bite was bursting with flavor. It was so relaxing to just sit back and eat that we spent around 2 hours just talking and watching the world go by by as we sat by our open window table. The staff are so friendly and always smiling. I mentioned in passing conversation when we got the bill that it was my daughter's 16th birthday and that this was a treat for us, well the staff went above and beyond by bringing out a birthday brownie for my daughter, complete with candles and a song. It was a heartwarming gesture that made her day special and added a personal touch to our dining experience. I'm definitely going back again. Very relaxed atmosphere and the prices are affordable, I plan to go back again with my daughter to have another traditional Turkish breakfast but this time I will bring my kindle and my daughter will bring her sketch book so we can enjoy the morning until lunch time when we can order some lunch coz the menu looks banging....
Read moreWe came a year ago and we couldnt believe how tasty the food was.. with every bite we felt in the 6th cloud, produce was very fresh and organic, full of flavour..divine experience…
So this year we decided to travel to 1h again to the same place for my birthday meal… and oh the disappointment… what happened to You guys? Management changed? Chefs changed?
Nothing like we tasted before and portions gone smaller.
For 3 calamari pieces (£7,5) 5 cubes of lamb with 3 half baby tomatoes and 1 leaf of lettuce and half of a cup of rice (£20). Another lamb skewers dish with yogurt and bread £24, I had order extra rice as it didnt come with it… and there were barely any lamb in it..lamb was poor quality a bit old and chewy.. 3 drinks, we paid £75 ????????
I felt robbed, because not only portions are tiny, food was poor quality as well and I remember very well that Fresh Salad was served with main meal - none of that anymore. My partner remembers that last time we definitely got more lamb on our portions as we’ve ordered the same meals.
Ill be honest we have left hungry.. we got home and had to get a take away…
Such a waste of time, ruined birthday meal and wasted money.
I will not be coming back here ever again.
Its very sad guys. You should never let the quality of food or portions go down, I rather see increased prices. I would have rather paid £85-£90 , but for the same quality food we had a year ago or so…very...
