Tampopo in the Trafford Centre was a great dine overall, that succeeded in offering a complete experience of the cuisine of the Far East. With a wide variety of dishes ranging from a quick light bite to the more heftier mains, they’ve got it all.
Our favourites had to be the Pad Krapow stir fry and the Thai Red Curry. Portion size for the mains, however, are definitely small when ordered alone, particularly given the price being paid. The only exception here was probably the Nasi Goreng.
And while both Jo and Ben were very welcoming and helpful throughout our dine, this was true of all the friendly and attentive staff, who were always on the ready to assist and help.
Depending on the store, they now offer delivery via Deliveroo (Trafford being the exception). As well as offering a 20% discount for both students and NHS staff, kids can also dine for just a quid with a Kids Pass. Couldn’t get better than that for a family outing especially given the Trafford Centre branch's 'kids corner', which not only offers little toys to keep the little ones busy, but also a microwave for self heating services (baby food, etc).
If you’re seeking after an Asian cuisine experience, then give this a try.

Still loving this place after all these years! I've added the latest menus and I still always go back to my classic favourite, the chicken pad krapow even though I'm always left in tears from the spiciness!! 🤯
2019: I've been a patron of this place for years now and I always leave feeling happy; great food, friendly service (long time staff too so it's nice to see them committed to the place too!), relaxed casual atmosphere and all at fairly decent prices. They've been changing and tweaking the menu ever so slightly through the years and this time, they've improved the drinks selection by quite a bit. There are a few new dishes but all the classic favourites (nasi goreng, pad krapow, beef rendand, massaman curry) are all there too. My recommendations; Balinese pork belly to start, chicken pad krapow for mains and Vietnamese coffee to wash it all down
03/2018: Came here for a Vegan Taste Tour; a special night serving vegan only dishes, 5 fixed courses for £18. Had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. Sign up to the newsletter or check the website often for similar events that Tampopo put up from time to time. It's a great way to try out multiple dishes for a very...
Read moreWe had tonkotsu ramen and katsu udon noodle soup for dinner, along with two drinks (one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic), for a total of £40. Unfortunately, the portion sizes were very small, and we left still feeling hungry!
The pork belly slices in the ramen were cold, and we were only given half an egg each. The breaded chicken in the katsu udon was thin, and the coating separated from the meat. The soup itself was overly rich, to the point where I couldn’t finish it—it was essentially just katsu curry with noodles instead of rice. There also weren’t enough noodles to feel satisfied (think less than half of a store-bought packet of udon in a shallow bowl). While the staff were polite and didn’t rush us, I am very disappointed and won’t be returning.
Tampopo used to be an affordable place to dine with decent portion sizes and proportional prices. However, it has become expensive, and unless you order multiple items, you won’t leave feeling full. They seem to have decided to hike their prices and at the same time reduced the portion sizes....
