I am absolutely appalled by the treatment my family received at this establishment, especially from the general manager, Dominic. We came here to celebrate my grandad’s 78th birthday, and what was meant to be a pleasant outing quickly turned into a nightmare.

I have frequented this place several times in the past and have never had an experience even remotely close to this. However, Dominic’s behavior has now ensured that I will never return, simply because of him.

While we were sitting at our table, a man in a pink shirt with his hair tied in a bun attempted to take my grandad’s drink without asking if he was finished. My grandad, who is hard of hearing, gently patted the man on the back as he walked past to get his attention and let him know he wasn’t done with his drink. Instead of responding politely or acknowledging the situation, Dominic turned around in an aggressive, vile manner and snapped, “What was that?”

I calmly explained that my grandad was simply trying to get his attention, but Dominic’s response was utterly disgusting. His instant aggression was completely uncalled for, especially towards an elderly gentleman who meant no harm.

I then tried to speak with Dominic to express how unsatisfied and upset we were with his behavior, but he didn’t offer an apology or any kind of explanation. He didn’t even acknowledge my grandad at all, nor did he try to de-escalate the situation. The complete lack of professionalism and courtesy shown by him was shocking.

I simply cannot believe this is the kind of behavior exhibited by the person in charge of this establishment. The entire experience was humiliating and disrespectful, and I will never return, all because of Dominic. I would never recommend coming here if this is how customers...

I visited this pub today, Saturday the 2nd, while back home up north, hoping to enjoy a relaxed evening and make use of a birthday voucher I’d received through my own work at an M&B location. Unfortunately, the experience fell well below the standards I’ve come to expect from the brand.

From the moment I entered, I was met with curt, one-word responses from the blonde woman behind the bar, who gave the clear impression that I was intruding rather than welcome. When I politely explained that I wanted to use my M&B birthday voucher, I was told that a tab could not be opened. I then asked if I could pay the £30 minimum upfront and receive my drinks after we’d finished the current ones — a common and reasonable request. The response: a flat refusal with no explanation, just “I’m not willing to do that.”

Feeling dismissed and frustrated, we left and went to another M&B pub nearby. Despite being much busier, the staff there were friendly, accommodating, and had no issue at all with the same request. In fact, they were surprised to hear how we had been treated at the previous venue.

It’s disappointing to encounter such unwelcoming and uncooperative service, especially from a fellow M&B establishment. I would encourage management to look into this interaction and consider whether it reflects the values and hospitality customers — and staff — expect...

This was my first time visiting the bank and i was not disappointed. This is a nicholson pub, so it is not a surprise i enjoyed my time there.

We ordered calamari, and halloumi fries from the sides and bar snacks menus, and a beef brisket burger.

🧀 Halloumi fries - The halloumi fries were incredible. they were so chunky and cooked perfectly. They were garnished with watercress which complimented them very nicely. It was served with sweet chilli mayonnaise which was a lovely dip.

🦑 Calamari - This was very tasty. The bowl was filled to the brim with fired baby calamari, chillis, and spring onion, served with half a lemon and a sweet chilli sauce, this bar snack was wonderful. There was a lot of calamari, i could not finish it all (which is not a complaint). However, a few pieces were a little over cooked and burnt on the outside.

🍔 Beef brisket burger - WOW. This was incredible. the burger was so thick and topped with so much brisket. My one complaint would be that it did not have much salad in it, and the gherkin was served on top instead of inside. The chips were very nice and a fair amount were served. £17 may sounds steep for a burger, but i would say this is worth it.

The atmosphere in here was lovely and the service was fast. It is a great place to grab a drink and/or have a meal. i will...

I have always heard that the beef pie in this restaurant is delicious, so I chose to eat there on a leisurely Sunday. The food is really delicious and the dining environment is even more impressive

An Absolute Delight – Best Fish & Chips in Manchester! I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Bank in Manchester, and I have to say—the fish and chips were absolutely outstanding. The batter was perfectly crispy, golden, and light, encasing a beautifully tender and juicy piece of fish that practically melted in the mouth. Each bite was a perfect balance of crunch and flavor, without being greasy or heavy. The chips were just as impressive—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. Paired with a side of mushy peas and a wedge of lemon, it was a classic done to perfection. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this dish alone is worth the stop. Highly recommended!
