As a person that has autism, which creates anxiety anyway, especially with being in busy a busy compact space, I have waited in the line until I’ve got to the front where an older lady has served me started to prepare my order. And then she then went to try to belittle me and intimidate me in front of many customers that were eating and also waiting because last time I was there, I had an unfriendly experience with another staff member because I only asked for my food to be separated. Very uncooperative, very unfriendly and very intimidating, especially with somebody that has disabilities! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY WHO STRUGGLES WITH COMMUNICATION AND SOICAL SKILLS. I have left feeling upset, anxious and massively embarrassed. Absolutely uncalled for and unprofessional considering the lady was telling me, she would find out where I work for unknown reasons.. that is threatening behaviour towards a customer for no particular reason other then me leaving a review of my experience in this low quality and over priced fish and...

Poor customer service. The gentleman who answers the phone has shocking telephone manners. Did not want to speak to me on the phone, was quick to pass me onto someone else. Tried to rectify an incorrect order. Was told that the "girl who took you order was very good" this microagression was to insinuate that i had misordered rather than accept that the individual who took it had got it wrong. She asked me what i wanted, as i did a massive order for my colleagues and the incorrect order was for a colleague - i suggested a good will gesture. She got off the phone and was away for a bit to figure it out with the "boss". She came back with a resolution- that my colleague could have the original order on good will, however they "will not be taking any more orders over the phone from now on". Her tone was pretty aggressive. This isn't the 1st time that they have made a mistake. Twice previously they have overcharged and messed up the order- albeit it was last year. Shame really, cause the food was very good but the customer service...

The strong smell of malt vinegar wafted into our nostrils as someone walked past us greedily tucking into their lunch.

"FISH & CHIPS!" we said...

...we asked where the nearest chippy was & were quickly directed to WRIGHTS where we struck gold & had a lovely meal.

Fish chips & peas £4.50 plus Meat & Potato pie chips & Irish curry sauce £4.90: beautifully cooked, service with a smile & good portions (REGULAR serving of chips is plenty enough)

BTW I've read a couple of reviews complaining about prices here.

REALLY? SERIOUSLY??

See how much change you get from a fiver next time you visit Costa Etc & order a Raspberry Muffin with your Mocha Coffee compared to the hearty meal you get from Wrights for the same money - THEN you can complain about prices.

This is a traditional chippy, immaculate inside & serving fine food in the heart of central Manchester (right next to St Anne's Square) paying top business rates on their shop.

I for one am glad to have found them & as Arnie says...

Was advised to go to this chippy from one of the City Host men (the people in the city centre who are dressed in black with red) We asked him if he knew of anywhere in the city centre you can get a good chips and gravy, we were directed to Wright's Fish and Chips. We were so glad because it tasted absolutely delicious and we will definitely be going back there again. I think the only qualm I had is im a wheelchair user and there is a very large step at the entrance (so it would be really good if they could get a wheelchair ramp as we had to sit outside to eat) But wow it was worth it. We even went back to the City host to thank him Will definitely be visiting again (weather dependent for now)

No frills fish and chips shop with a dozen counter style seats. Chips are a 3 out of 5 at best: thick cut with creamy interior but limp and dry crusts. Would be much mpte enjoyable if properly double cooked. Ordered a haddock, but might have got cod instead due to an order mix up. Cod was lovely with chunky flaky flesh, with a wonderfully fried crust that was airy and light, yet crunchy and not greasy. The contrast in crunch between the fish and the chips only made the chips pale even more in comparison. Generous portions for under £10 for a fish and chips. Enjoyable fish but would return only if chips were better.

Wrights Fish & Chip Shop is my favourite chippy in Manchester City centre. Chips are cooked to perfection and fish is cooked perfectly in the best batter I have tasted in Manchester. I remember coming here for the first time with my mum I was impressed, the taste of the fish and batter won me over. I have been coming back here ever since and quality has always been to a high standard. Staff here are very friendly, chippy its self very clean and in a good location. So best quality fish & chips I have tasted in Manchester City centre area, Well worth a try for anyone looking for a Traditional English Fish & Chips.
