My dine in experience is a mixed one in many ways — food-wise (which is the most important for me), I would hesitate to recommend the place as an authentic sushi bar. We ordered both sashimi and beef don. I have to say I’m not impressed by the quality of the source of seafood, nor the cooking technique. Specifically, the salmon sashimi is thinner than 1cm/0.4 inch. This hardly could be possible for anyone to taste the fatty piece of meat melting on your tongue. Oh, that reminds me. The sashimi is not fatty at all… And instead of melting, it fought with my teeth before I did the hard work chewing them down… All of these details fails the expectations I would have for a claimed sushi bar.
Another source of the mixed feeling comes from the service. Some staff are really friendly and efficient — thank you! But unfortunately, not all of them. The staff taking our order didn’t say anything to us, not even a yes or hello. But at the same time, our water was served by the same staff. So I’m quite confused if it’s just a bad day for them or if that’s their consistent style of serving. Could not really complain about the service though, because the service charge is waived if you pay by cash — which is another question mark.
The final puzzle is the speed of serving the food. In short, 35mins of waiting for the first dish. But all the other dishes were served right after the 35mins’ waiting. Interesting! I stay neutral about this. But if you are in a rush, think twice.
I would give the place 2.5 to be fair if I didn’t read the google review before going. But it sadly has disappointed me, who expected some fresh, quality sushi that worth the 4.5 out of 5 they get on...
Read moreWas looking forward to trying this restaurant for my birthday, unfortunately left very disappointed. Food was mediocre but maybe we didn't order correctly. Would have given it another chance if the service wasn't diabolical.
It was quiet so my husband asked to sit in a booth. Told they are reserved for bigger groups, perfectly fine. But 2 other couples were allowed to sit at the booths several minutes later. There were still small tables available. Both these couples were east asian and seemed to get preferential treatment. We are brown skinned. There was one other table of brown skinned patrons. TWICE the waitress put our dishes on their table. Once is an honest mistake, twice is getting ridiculous. Second time the lady on the other table even picked up and examined our starter before telling the waitress it wasn't their dish. Only positive is the waitress didn't make a fuss of remaking it. Our egg fried rice never came. We reminded them it was missing 3 times and reassured it was coming but 40 mins later still no rice. Literally takes seconds to knock up egg fried rice. We ended up cancelling the item as we'd finished our mains.
Out of the 6 dishes we ordered, 3 were either sent to wrong table or...
Read moreHugely disappointing experience at Legend One Sushi Bar tonight. Booked for half eight, finally seated just after 9pm. Having had a good half an hour to peruse the menu we were very excited and knew exactly what we were going to have only to be told the main menu wasn't available as there was a wait of up to an hour for food but we could choose from a tiny little bar snack menu instead.
Couple sat next to us had been waiting for over an hour for food and the table behind us with a young child had been sat for two hours without food! No apology and when I tried to find someone to talk to, I discovered all the waiting staff and the manager had scarpered upstairs and no-one appeared for more than 15 minutes. At which point we gave up and came home.
I work in food, I get that the EOTHO scheme has been very challenging but if you can't serve the tables you...
