If I could give Zaza and Casa Cento more than 5 stars, I would. Tonight was my second time visiting this restaurant and it did not disappoint second time round. Zaza (the owner) is so friendly, welcoming and funny that that alone makes a trip here well worth it, not only this, but he manages to make you feel like an old friend and so completely at ease whilst here. The staff in the restaurant are professional, friendly and all such a lovely group of people (our first visit was on a hot day and a member of staff put a fan on us without being asked to which was much needed and we didn't even have to ask).
Now to get to the food. If you like batch cooked, flavourless food, then this is not the restaurant for you. BUT if you like fresh, well flavoured food, then this is the place to go. Don't walk there, RUN. The only disappointment I have experienced here on both occasions is that my plate has ended up empty, the food in my belly and me still wanting to enjoy more of the food. Casa Cento has fast become my favourite Italian restaurant to go to. So if you like incredible service and off the chart amazing food, then come here, you will not regret it.
I would also like to add, that I don't think I have ever been into a restaurant and seen the owner doing the same work as their staff. Zaza welcomes people to his restaurant, he takes their orders, serves drinks, takes the rubbish out. He gets involved in everything, which is so refreshing to see. So to end this review, I would just like to say thank you to Zaza and his team of incredible staff for making our visits so wonderful. We will see you soon, and I promise to bring the Johnny Depp lookalike...
Read moreMy friends and I all ordered the Margarita pizza from here, but unfortunately, they all fell short of expectations. The cheese and tomato sauce were almost flavourless and although it was a quite a thin crust, it was very doughy. How does an Italian restaurant not nail a staple piece like a Margarita?!
I would like to add as well, that no offers for additional drinks were extended, which was surprising given the modest level of business at the time and we were only checked on after finishing our pizzas which was when we made the restaurant manager aware of the above. Granted, we didn’t make an effort to call anyone over to raise our concerns, but I don’t think replacement Pizzas would have made any difference given the ingredients they were made with.
When we expressed our concerns to the manager post-meal, we were informed about the in-house preparation of the sauce and were advised that “everyone makes their Pizzas differently”. While we appreciate the clarification, this marked the only time where I found Pizza at an Italian restaurant to be unenjoyable.
Although a 10% discount was offered and the manager was a top guy, the perceived value of the pizza did not align with the original price, even with the discount. I honestly would have preferred to have cooked myself a frozen pizza. Whilst I appreciate this only about their pizza, it does raise concerns for other dishes if they can't even get this right!
I hope this detailed feedback is received constructively, and I look forward to any steps taken to address these concerns for the overall improvement of the...
Read moreUnfortunately I have a rather tainted view of the place. My wife has a nut allergy, and it's very evident cross contamination happens behind the scenes. The staff on the whole were absolutely fantastic, friendly and polite, but the moment my wife started having an allergic reaction (menu did not state nuts and staff did not ask or provide suitable arrangement) the broken English started coming and was escalated to the manager who would rather not address the issue head on but tick other boxes to try qwell the situation. My wife asked our waitress, and she checked and said none of our dishes contained nuts, and another came other and nodded and was then kept quite whilst a third waitress came over and deliberately over spoke their colleague. If you don't have allergies or any tentative needs, the place is great and you'll enjoy what would be normally a simple great meal. If you have anything additional or 'outside of the norm'- I'd steer clear because you'll still be asked for the full amount, no apology, just prepared to take the L and hope it doesn't affect business short term. Needless to say we won't go back, I'd only recommend if you don't need additional requirements. I wouldn't have taken a come back to dine voucher but at least some money off the bill for acknowledgement of beyond poor kitchen hygiene practise wouldn't have gone a miss. There was enough people that came in to show it has some form of popularity but we were not their at peak to see it at is most stressful. With enough people coming in I'm sure it's more than adequate...
