I've heard good things about MK's latest steakhouse so I was excited to see what all the fuss was about. Approaching the restaurant, we (2 couples) were greeted by an overzealous security guard. Even though we stated we had a reservation, which we were 5mins late for, he insisted we wait outside whilst he checked with the front desk 5ft away. He didn't even ask any of our names which was really quite bizarre, but in we went. The restaurant itself is a little on the dark side but has a stylish décor. Different light fixtures above every table, very comfortable, thick quilt padded chairs and a textured wall with Kobe lite up in tubular lighting. The bar runs down the left side (as you enter) of the restaurant and is nicely positioned with bar stools should you just fancy a drink (good selection of cocktails). So the important part, the food. The Scallops and bacon starter was beautifully cooked and well portioned. The same can be said of the Burratta starter. The Ribeye (which was medium rare) had an excellent base flavour. All of the steaks here come with fries and a small garnish and this was well presented. We all went for the 300g option, which was more than enough. Unfortunately, there were some problems ☹️. Considering this place is relatively new the menus were a little on the tatty side, the backs of them were greasy and didn't mention any steak sauces (which are available upon request). The Smoked duck starter arrived covered by a glass, smoked filled bell. Plenty of theatre but alas, no smoke flavour whatsoever. One of the sirloins was chewy. Our server took it away only for what I assume was his manger to ask "if we had eaten sirloin before as it is a little on the chewy side 🙄." Never have I heard a restauranteur claim that any cut of steak cooked medium is supposed to be chewy. This left us a little confused especially as he then suggested a change to fillet, as that is less chewy 😶. The option to switch was accepted and the fillet arrived perfectly cooked. As for sauces, we chose 2, one Peppercorn and the other a red wine sauce. Both lacked seasoning and any depth of flavour which meant they had little punch and did not enhance the steak at all.. In conclusion... 4 starters, 4 300g steaks, a bottle of Prosecco and 2 ciders was just shy of £178 including service charge (they comp'd the returned steak [thanks], else the bill would've been around £210) . It's a little on the pricey side and simply put; there are just better places to have steak in MK 🤷🏾 but probably not in as stylish surroundings.

Enjoyable experience. Just a few things to be aware of to first time diners (like I was): 1). The steaks come with chips and sauces (neither of which are on the menu). There are 'sides' listed so I assumed we were ordering them as well, however chips were included. Sauces were peppercorn, blue cheese, mushroom, red wine) but these were only told to you verbally when ordering so you had to decide quickly with the waitress stood there. Would be nice to have them on the menu so you could peruse them first when deciding but a minor point. 2). The starter (Iberian pork) was extremely small. I fully appreciate you are going for the flavours and experience but it was litrally two mouthfuls (see picture) for £10. The scallops were more as I would expect portion size. 3). We went for the smallest steak sizes (300g) and they were plenty big enough. I don't expect you would need bigger than that if you have a normal appetite. 4). The puddings are brought out as a 'visual board.' Not knowing what this was we said we would have a look at the menu, but didn't realise this meant that all 4 puddings were going to be presented to us with a little explanation about each which was nice. However, I felt slightly awkward then that the poor waitress had brought them all out for me to decide against wanting any of them because I was full. 5). When booking online you are told that you credit card details are being taken to secure against you cancelling last minute. It is a slightly aggressive message, and then your credit card details aren't taken after it so seems a little unnecessary. When I did need to rearrange (for unexpected reasons), I had to call multiple times over a three hour period to try and get through as it kept going to voicemail. However when the front of house did pick up, the rearrangement was sorted no problem. The waitress (Sophie) was very attentive, and courteous. The atmosphere is clearly popular with the Instagram crowd. I enjoyed my sirloin steak and the indoor environment was nice. I'm pleased I went but I'm not sure I'd be rushing back given the above reasons

Updated 13/09/2024: Wow, see the comment from the owner, I have been BANNED from the restaurant!!! Haha. This is how they treat people who write balanced and honest reviews. 🤣🤣🤣 They wrote that they believe I'm targeting their restaurant - REALLY??? haha!!! I have reduced my rating from 4 stars to 1. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updated 12/09/2024: I have reduced my rating based on the email engagement with Paula from customer service. She states that the service charge is listed at the bottom of the menu and the 200ml Diet Coke measurement is also listed. My eyesight is pretty good, but the menu text is very small and the lighting is dim, so I struggled to read the menu. Also, nobody looks at the menu for 'Diet Coke', you just ask for it - and I've never been to a restaurant before that has provided just 200ml, especially for £3.95!!! I won't be visiting here again and I will recommend my friends, family and colleagues to go to Miller and Carter. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original review: 09/09/2024: The bad: A £9.47 (12.5%} service charge was added to the bill and not pointed out to me. We were only 2 people with 1 course each. £4 for a 200ml bottle of Diet Coke is absurd. It doesn't list 200ml on the menu, I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known. The chips were very soft. The steak comes with a small portion of chips and a very small sauce. The toilets are a tired and 1 of the 2 urinals is labelled as out of order. The good: The steak (medium rare) was very nice. There were no other customers (at lunchtime on a Monday). I saw 5 members of staff! The text on the menu is small and the lighting is low, so bring reading glasses if you need them! Overall: It was a good experience, but I wouldn't go again. Instead, I'd go to Miller and Carter which is better value for money (more sauce, larger sauce and side salad) and just as good or slightly better in terms of quality. Plus they don't add on a sneaky 12.5% service charge!

I attended this venue with my partner to celebrate our anniversary. Looking at the menu prior to visiting, we were very impressed by the advertisement and presentation of different meats and dishes.

Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted by friendly staff and seated within seconds of arriving. Alex M was our server for the evening and was very attentive, polite, and had a very well-educated answer for every question we had.

The chairs must be one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced. The restaurant in general had a very clean, tidy and professional aesthetic. The tables for 2 give more than enough space for multiple dishes and the touch-lamp lighting is perfect for creating a positive environment.

For starters, we had steak tartare and Burrata. The steak tartare was brought to the table to be prepared in front of us. This alone was a great experience. Alex was respectful not to interrupt our conversations while doing this but made sure that the dish was prepared to my preferences. Both starters were very well-presented and in good portion with an outstanding taste.

For mains, we had the Argentinian 500g sirloin steak cooked blue, with a side of mashed potatoes, king oyster mushrooms, and bearnaise sauce. My partner had the Wagyu beef burger with signature fries. Both dishes were outstanding. The presentation was immaculate, portions were very generous, and the attention to seasoning and taste were not forgotten.

Alex explained to us that the desert menu was not available at that time, and so brought a plate of all options to the table and gave us a description of each one. This was very professional and impressive for us.

Drinks included a generous glass of Rose wine, a pornstar martini, and bottled still water. My partner was extremely impressed with the lack of bitterness in the martini.

The bill came to £140 with the service charge. We were both amazed at such a low price for such a great meal and experience in general.

We will happily recommend this establishment to anyone and we will happily return.

Side notes - the kitchen is hidden behind a party wall which reduces noise and smell pollution to the seating area. The toilets were kept very clean and organised. The music was a touch too loud upon arrival but seemed to quieten as time continued. We dressed very formally for this establishment but do not feel pressure to do this as there were customers in tracksuits. The biggest downside is that the classy, clean interior does not reflect the shopping center it is located...

Visited kobe milton keynes and the experience wasnt as expected, I have emailed Kobe twice and no reply. Firstly being charged £4.50 for a bottle of water was not expected, we was asked if we wanted table water I said yes however was never informed of the outraguous price of it nor did I expect to pay that when spending £100 on steak.

The service from the female member of staff working was brilliant (sometimes alittle over powering but nothing to complain about) however the Male staff members where rude and arrogant.

My husband ordered a whisky and was charged a double, im convinced this wasnt a double measure but more to the point a double wasnt ordered and he was driving meaning he would be close to or over the limit.

We didn't order starters and went straight for mains having the 750g  chateaubriand with chips and sweet potato fries.

We have this dish often and at many different restaurants, the meat was nice but did have fat on it, also had a over powering taste of rosemary and garlic, which was at the bottom of the hot plate it was servered on, ruining the taste if the meat. For £89 I did expect to be amazed by the quality of meat but this wasnt the case, I've actually had tastier steak on my bbq at home.

I explained my concerns to the waitress but whilst talking to her a Male member of staff come over to her and said I need a word now (to her) she tried to continue talking to me but he said it again, they then didn't step away from our table but had a conversation next to us about how the table 2 up from us was complaining about there dessert. I'm not sure what was so urgent about that, that one he needed to interrupt our conversation and secondly needed to talk about it within ear shot of us.

The whole experience wasnt great; wasnt talked through the menu, wasnt advised on anything and when spending £89 on steak a expect that. I also don't expect to eat my dinner watching some polish cutlery (which was very loud) and listen to two bar staff arguing about one of them kicking the bin.

This was meant to be a treat  to ourselves after a really hard week but it wasnt an enjoyable experience, leaving me feeling more stressed, and going else where for dessert as didn't want to stay any longer.

We was expecting great things but that isn't what we received, nor did we receive any care that we wasnt happy...
