Stopped here for New Years Eve .. there for 1pm-1:30 ready for seeing in the new year .. was told we could sit anywhere for the rest of the day/night (we were a group of 10 adults .. all couples) lovely service from the wait and bar staff right up until approx 6pm (give or take a few minutes). we were told we had to leave our seating area because the table was reserved from 7 pm .. bare in mind, we were told we could sit anywhere for the evening .. when trying to get our point across, we were told we were aggressive and the managers would not listen and were told we lacked total disregard for their booking policy we were also told we were aggressive to other members of staff but only really had dealings with the 1 manager (at this point) the only other staff was a lovely young waitress that was doing table service .. but had we known the tables were booked from a specific time and we would have had to leave at such a late time of day we would have found somewhere else to go at 1pm, not at 6pm, when they decided to put a reserved note on the table .. very disappointed, to say the least, the lack of people skills and dreadful attitude from the 2 managers who totally refused to listen or even help us to find a solution .. in the end, their attitude was to get security and have us "escorted" out of the premises .. in all my 55 years, I've never had to be asked to leave any place because I'm aggressive .. I'm not interested in any rhyme or reason as to why their attitude is so bad or why they can't be decent people and help find a solution, but maybe extra training on people skills and a general consideration or empathy for our situation could have been a better approach .. apart from our terrible experience with the change over management on NYE, the place was lovely and relaxed, and the singers they had there were excellent, and up until that point, we were throughly enjoying ourselves .. Newcastle is one of the most amazing friendlier places we've stayed in, but suffice to say a visit back to this establishment is definitely not on the cards thanks to the management that took over the...
Read moreI quite enjoyed this place. Prices are quite steep, but the aesthetic is nice enough. Myself, along with my partner, were invited to spin the wheel behind the bar, where you could land a free drink or a 10% or 20% off your order. We got 20% off and it was still expensive! Never mind. There was also a deal on where the cocktails were 2 for £12, so that was very reasonable indeed.
I do have to take off a star from my rating, however, and this is due to the awful mojito I received. The barmaid put almost no syrup into the cocktail, and then proceeded to bash the (not very) fresh mint until it was a pulverised mess, thus rendering the drink bitter and sour, and not in a good way. Alas, I could not enjoy this drink at all. We need to treat the mint carefully, people! The mint must be respected!
All-in-all, this place is decent and I certainly will be returning in the future. Please fix your...
Read moreWe had a bad experience here due to young girl walking around the pub selling shots. One of our party had accidentally bumped into her spilling a shot, she tried to demand for us to pay for it but we obviously refused. She then made up a story to doorman who then asked us to leave. Shame really as we were in there 3 hours, spent in excess of £300,interacted with other staff, customers and singers. We are in the 40-50 age group were having a great night till then. To have it spoilt my one silly member of staff meant what would have been a 5 star review is now 1 star. If this was my business I would be questioning what happened here and looking to get rid of that dangerous young girl damaging my business. Apologies if she has special needs or has mental issues as it may explain her behaviour but she needs to be no way near paying customers. Honest review here, You have...
