Visited with my Boyfriend and Brother after visiting the Ouseburn festival (highly recommended) it was very busy but the staff were extremely efficient, helpful and professional plus polite even though they were rushed off their feet and this is a credit to them. I absolutely loved it here, so historical and interesting. So many fascinating pictures, wall hangings and historical pieces from maritime history. The woodwork and ceiling are gorgeous and you can feel the tradition and history. The selection of real ales are superb as are all of the other drinks. Loved the seating in the little alley/outside corridor good for people watching, so quirky and unusual. You can see the original tiles which are stunning. Loved the stained glass. The toilets are clean and well maintained. Would go in alone. Fabulous place to meet up with friends if going along the quayside. Would recommend and definitely...
Read morePaulicarus has long wanted to visit this famous pub. About 20 years ago for my last visit but i had been here a few times before. It sold real ale when Scottish and Newcastle brewery had the North East as a bad fizzy keg beer desert. A very narrow bar with a super interior decor. A small lounge to the left and a long through bar plus the side alley has " outdoor seating." Had a pint of 4.2% best bitter by Full Circle brewery. One of six real ales on handpump. Claims to be the second oldest pub in Newcastle. Instead of a Juke Box they play 33 rpm vinyl. Oddly listening to late 1980's Kylie! Our Lady the Virgin Mary was looking forn somewhere to stay and Posadas / Inns were full! ( hence a stable.) In Wolverhampton we visited " The Posada." Apparently a reason for a festival in South...

Update - Dec. 2021. Went tonight for the first time since the re-opening following "Covid restrictions". Decor has changed but it is basically the same Crown Posada 🙂 apart from VERY big price rises. Pint and a wine £12.00 ☹☹☹☹

I appreciate that it is a unique building with its own problems regarding space, but not enforcing masks when moving around is, quite frankly, negligent. Still a great...
