Read moremy friend and i love bonzai solely for their salt and pepper series and their tori katsu don which we deemed to be the best in nottingham so far. we decided to bring a couple friends of ours to show them how good the food is and we ended up looking like big fat jokes. we ordered a few starters and 2 mains asking the waiter to return to take our orders for 2 other mains. the waiter came back with the starters which were not s great as they usually were. the waiter also returned with the wrong order, so we had to get that sent back. once he came back with the right order we were ready to order the two other mains till we realized the dish we received was incomplete and we hadn't received the sauce that was supposed to come with it. in the hurry of trying to fix that issue we didnt manage to slip in our order but assumed the waiter still remembered we hadnt ordered our mains yet. he then returned with the curry which they forgot but it came to us extremely diluted which made us really unhappy cuz we recommended this place because of their CURRY! :( we asked the waiter for more curry and turns out they charged us for the curry and didnt tell us we were going to be charged for the curry. once everything was sorted we called the waiter to finally take our orders for our mains to which he replied with 'our kitchen is closed , we aren't taking orders anymore'. WHAT? isn't it the waiters responsibility to let the customers know what time the kitchen closes? as i waited with my friend for my other two friends to finish their meal i caught two waiters talking and looking at my table and LAUGHING AT US. anyway we called for the bill and saw that we were charged for the wrong order. service was rly just terrible. im so unhappy i feel mocked and i had to skip my dinner. really...
There is nothing wrong with the food - it was excellent, but the service and attitude of staff is just appalling. It’s a busy place with a lot of take away orders and they don’t turn anyone around regardless can they physically provide the service or not. First 30 mins I was waiting till anyone just ask whether I want anything to drink. Then gentleman came to take my order he didn’t know the beer I was ordering from their menu, then he realised that they offered that beer he said ‘no one orders it because the other one is better’. I don’t think I came to the restaurant to be criticised for my choice. The beer comes in the bottle but no glass was provided, which is a general practice in that place. Then I ask whether they serve plain miso soup and I was told no. Which I thought it was strange as they offer it as a part of lunch or meal deal, but ok, I accepted that. Till the moment then I spotted that other table of four girls were served exactly miso soup I was asking about myself. And the reason I had time to look at other people in the restaurant is that I was waiting for my order for mor than an hour. And I ordered is trio of sashimi and hosomaki rolls; and I understand rolls could be longer to prepare but I can’t justify waiting over an hour for slicing the raw fish to my plate. The gentleman was trying to persuade my that sashimi takes so long to prepare like I have never ate them in my life and don’t know what they are but really was they were tremendously busy with online orders. Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place simply because the excellence in food is a necessity but the only one thing that makes dining out...
Read moreNever coming here again. Yesterday was my most recent (and now my last) visit. As a very regular customer, I took some of my friends to eat here. We ate a lot. When asking for the bill, we had THREE waitresses come to our table asking us to pay with cash instead of card. Each time we had to tell them that none of us carry cash. We even showed them our wallets because they didn't believe us. They told us that they wanted cash to pay the part time staff. We kept having to explain that we had no cash on us. They discussed with each other at a distance and made a few phone calls before someone finally (hesitantly) brought the card machine. We were then asked to only use a maximum of two cards for the payment. We were 4 people with a large bill. Between us, we said we'd divide it 1/4 on one card, and 3/4 on the second. The waitress hesitantly took the first card to charge 1/4 of the bill. I could see she was not using the card machine correctly (I have worked with card machines before) and the receipt kept coming out as void. After two "attempts" she insisted there was a problem with the card machine. By this point, we had been trying to pay for 10 minutes, one of my guests grew impatient and offered to take the whole bill on their card. The waitress smiled and the machine miraculously worked instantly on the first try!!
I am so disappointed because the food is actually quite nice and I have been getting food from here 2-3 times a month since January (usually as take away). I will be taking any future group of friends elsewhere from now on and will find somewhere else in Nottingham for my 2-3 times a...
