I'm rating this place so low for three main reasons:
I hate to say this, but the shakes are kind of mediocre - and by that I mean the ingredients (in my experience) barely touch the blender, leaving the flavour sitting in some sort of taste limbo somewhere between 'tofu' and 'thick milk ...thing with bits in it,' and giant chunks at the bottom of every cup that block your straw - let's just say these cups should come complete with a spork.
Not really their fault, but the venue is tiny - there's not a lot of room to sit and enjoy your shake at the best of times, and it's even worse at night when they can barely fit 5-10 people at once to order drinks, let alone stick around.
The customer service (or lack thereof). Far from the 'friendly local cafe' vibe: unfortunately, the members of staff I've encountered have shown a completely apathetic/'what do you mean I have to do anything for you' attitude - some have even been downright rude. This is the part I find hardest to overlook.
I've been to Cookie Shake quite a few times over the past few years with friends - I -want- to like them, but experiences like these mostly just encourage me to...

However due to always going for their cookie shake, I thought I'd shake things up with The Liberty which is a combination of American chocolate and biscuits mixed into ice cream and cream.
These ice cream shakes were smooth and tasty from the get go, offering a balanced flavour throughout the shake from start to finish with no bland moments of drinking. The smooth taste of peanut butter cups mixed in with the ice cream was a winner and a great compliment alongside the texture of the Oreo biscuit.
Overall this flavour left me on a journey back to America as a lover of sweet foods. Although The Liberty only includes the British made variants of Reese's peanut butter cups and Oreo pieces, it is still worth the cost for superior quality of other milkshakes around. The Liberty is a 5 star ice-cream...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place with cool, relaxed vibes and the best milkshake, then you definitely need to go here. Honestly, it's one of my favourite spots in Nottingham. When you first go there, the 50+ menu milkshake options can be a bit intimidating, but there are pre-selected themed drinks if you're indecisive. Personally, I opt for the rainbow shake - I put Millions, Rainbow dust, and Refreshers in, and always go for the biggest size. There's plenty of chocolatey options too if sweets aren't your thing. They have a stamp card, so loyalty is rewarded, and they have some snack choices like cookies. Whilst you're waiting or if you're sitting in, there's some retro consoles like Sega Megadrives and PS1s to play on. The craziest part? After 20:00, it transforms into an equally exuberant shot bar. Seriously, it's...
