Where to begin with this one. The pros: Nice environment, cute decor, warm atmosphere.
Now on to the negatives: We had a table for 2, on a Saturday evening. Shown to the table fairly quickly. Given menu's, then asked if we wanted drinks. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Then, 3 different waitresses came up and asked us for more drinks orders, and food orders, before we'd even got our drinks. Finally I asked one of them to chase up the wine. The original waitress came back and apologised that they didn't have any Chenin blanc; which i replied was fine - because that's not what we ordered. Finally the drinks came and we ordered food. Antipasti sharer and 1 pasta and 1 chicken dish. When the antipasti arrived, imagine my surprise that it included well known italian cheeses such as Red Leicester, Cheddar and Wendsleydale. I am sure it's a coincidence that the meat and cheese on the plate were the same as the selection packs you can buy in Aldi (and I'm sure the restaurant went to great lengths to make the crackers match Aldi's too). Not the end of the world. But then the main course. Now i will preface this by stating i checked with the waitress well before ordering whether the dish i ordered could be done without mushrooms. I even said that i imagine it can't be, but she reassured me that the chef could do so. Excellent! I thought. When the dish arrived, it was absolutely covered in mushrooms. I raised this with the waitress who looked confused but took it back. My partner had also received his food, so i told him to eat. By the time my dish arrived back, my partner had finished, and what i was presented with, i can only describe as pasta-shaped rubber, that had been microwaved until an inch of its life. Safe to say, the kitchen had obviously emptied the meal, picked out all the mushrooms (lost the sauce in the process), realised it was stone cold and microwaved it under an atomic bomb. It was completely inedible. Unfortunately as my partner had finished eating, i didn't want to have the awkward wait for it to be recooked, so we paid and left. Suffice to say I...
Read moreLovely looking place, bar area is especially nice. Seating wasn't great in the restaurant though. I was sat at a table that meant my seat encroached on the stairs between the bar / ladies toilets and the restaurant so I had to shift my chair a few times and deal with coats and bags knocking against me. We ended up shifting the table back a little but we couldn't move it too much as there were people in the corner behind us. Staff came across as uninterested & not smiley at all. Food was mediocre. Two of us had lasagne which was clearly home made but tasted like a frozen meal. Also the mayo that we were given was really funny which might seem a bit silly to mention but is there anything worse than poor mayo when it comes to condiments? 😆 My other friend ordered the stuffed chicken breast from the specials board. It was a huge breast stuffed with thick slices of English ham which was a bit odd. It came with a 1/3 of a plate of very pale fries (or Frys according to the chalkboard) and a pile of undercooked carrot chunks. It did not make for an attractive plate. We did all agree the twice cooked chips were nice though. Overall, it didn't make us...
Read moreHello, Myself and my wife are regular visitors to the restaurant normally twice a month. The last 2 visits have not been to the normal standard. I understand prices rising but the steak portion are noticeably smaller whilst he price has risen 2 recently ( please note this review it’s not based on price I am happy to pay for decent food) On Friday the 8th we visited the restaurant at our normal 9pm booking. Both myself and my wife had steak usually for me but not normally my wife choice. The steaks as o have said above are smaller and the price has gone up £7-8 pounds from were it used to be. My wife steak was tough and we called over the server who was as normal extremely pleasant and was apologetic. After 10-15 minutes in that time I had nearly finished my meal my wife’s meal returned with the same Steak still on the plate but now cooked well done instead of the medium which was ordered and returned. No fresh steak no explanation why just that’s what we been told to bring out. We rejected the meal and was just told there’s nothing we can do. Offered a free pudding which we declined and after further conversation a round of drinks was knocked...
