Expected good things with this place after looking at past reviews, how wrong was I! Waitress came over and took drinks order which we then waited nearly half an hour for. When we enquired where our drinks order was we were abruptly told by another member of staff that ' there's only one person on the bar, he's doing his best!' OK..but the place is empty only us and two other tables in the whole place and not one person in the bar! All our Food came after an hour nearly in dribs and drabs throughout a 20 minute window, got my very small side of COLD £4.50 fries a good 10 minutes before the rest of my meal whats that about?. I had brisket it was just grey bland fatty mush on a dirty looking side dish sized plate with three slices of cheap pickle and a little takeaway style plastic bowl of unidentifiable sauce after seeing that I sent mine back and went without I was so put off by then. My wife's burger we sent back as it was just two or three slices of beef mushed together it looked like roadkill and drowned in sauce I suspect to hide the state of it. The replacement came, just the same only bigger, yuk! The childrens meals were embarrassing with two slices of cucumber and a small whole carrot!? on the side of overdone chicken and anemic looking fries which incidentally was the same size as his brothers identicle meal only his was from the main menu costing about £10 more but was that small! I'd already complained about my food and been told it would be taken from the bill, fair enough. But come bill time my fries were still on there, not a big deal but still.. also so was the 10% service charge! Not being funny but after all faults with the whole meal I felt charging for this was a p##s take tbh! When we queried this with the manager he was most unapologetic, sighed and refused to take the fries from the bill for some reason bit strange considering he'd already agreed to remove the main course!?. We then had to argue our case while he just looked uninterested and never once did he even attempt to apologise, before he finally agreed to take off the fries and service we then overheard him saying "you deal with this, I don't want to" to the poor waitress who to be fair was very polite and apologetic throughout. Also got to mention the gents toilets were rank two urinals both out of order with yellow tape across them so they couldnt be used but both were still full of urine and what looked like vomit. Lovely to see half way through a meal. I've also seen this toilet/vomit situation mentioned in a previous review so could this be a common reaction to what they are serving who knows? Certainly will not be going back, rubbish food, expensive and a bit dirty too! I don't know why I paid for most or any of it to be honest. I just wanted out of there and didn't want the day to be spoilt even more by having to argue over it further especially given the management's previous reaction. Really disappointed as this was Christmas eve and had been well...
Read moreI visited Red Dog Saloon in Nottingham last week, and I must say, my experience was quite memorable, especially when it came to the meal I ordered—the Devastator Burger.
Walking into the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the rustic yet modern vibe, with dim lighting and comfortable seating. The staff members were welcoming and attentive, ensuring that I felt well taken care of throughout my visit.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the Devastator Burger. As the name suggests, this burger is not for the faint of heart. It's a colossal creation that pushes the limits of what can be considered a burger. Stacked high with three beef patties, three slices of American cheese, six rashers of bacon, and a generous helping of BBQ pulled pork, it's an absolute behemoth.
When the burger arrived at my table, I was taken aback by its sheer size. It towered over the plate, and I immediately knew I was in for a challenge. The patties were cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, and the bacon added a crispy and savory element. The combination of melted cheese and BBQ pulled pork provided a delightful richness that complemented the other ingredients.
Taking my first bite was an experience in itself. The flavors exploded in my mouth, and I was impressed by how well-balanced the ingredients were. Each bite was a mouthful of meaty goodness, and I appreciated that despite its size, the Devastator Burger didn't sacrifice taste or quality.
Eating the entire burger was quite the undertaking, and I'll admit, it was a struggle to finish. However, the challenge was part of the fun, and I appreciated the novelty of tackling such a massive meal. It's definitely a burger for those with a big appetite or those looking for a unique dining experience.
In addition to the Devastator Burger, the menu at Red Dog Saloon offered a variety of other enticing options. From mouthwatering ribs to flavorful chicken wings, there was something for every meat lover. The portion sizes were generous, and the quality of the ingredients was evident.
The service throughout my visit was commendable. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were happy to offer recommendations and ensure that I had an enjoyable dining experience.
Overall, my visit to Red Dog Saloon in Nottingham was a memorable one, especially with the Devastator Burger as the highlight of the meal. The restaurant provided a vibrant atmosphere, attentive service, and a menu that catered to carnivorous cravings. If you're looking for a dining experience that pushes the limits of what a burger can be, the Devastator Burger at Red Dog Saloon is worth a try. Just make sure you come with a...
Read moreWent there for my birthday meal with my wife. It starts with walking into the place. Not a scent of smoke at all not even a tiny bit, should have been a warning sign from that point. Friendly enough waitress took us to our table. We ordered drinks that took a bit of time to come. The oreo shake was tasty, but straws pathetic to deal with the thickness of it. We had the carnivore platter to try a bit of everything as with any smokehouse their smoked beef should be their signature dish.
When it came out the platter looked kind of impressive but was the most obvious thing about it, it didn't have a scent of smoke at all. No idea what the other reviewers palates are like, maybe they smoke or drink them into oblivion but in general everything was bland, under seasoned and there wasn't even a smoke ring on the brisket, short rib or st louis ribs. Overall a massive disappointment. I've smoked short ribs in the back garden with more flavour than this. What credentials do they have? They clearly aren't pit masters. Should really be ashamed to put Texas bbq on their brand.
The only smokey thing on the platter was the hot link... and it was a cheap brat. The platter was meant to come with a selection of BBQ sauces, two were exactly the same and one was a faintly blue cheese dip. The pulled pork was dry and bland too. We had bacon jalapeño mac cheese, was nice and cheesy but didn't taste of anything. The fries were probably the only seasoned item.
Maybe the burgers or the chicken would have been a better option to order.. but IMHO you don't go for bbq to get chicken or a burger - you get a tray of smoked meat. We certainly would NOT recommend this to anyone who actually wants to have a great BBQ experience. If you want to have some kind of experience with BBQ in Nottingham go to Reds... It still isn't that great to be fair, but at least they have actually won BBQ competitions and the food actually tastes more of BBQ/smoke. Oh and the gall to add on a 10% service charge to a table of 2? hilarious. I give tips when they are deserved. In countries like the states it's expected as they get paid nothing, but not here. Tips are given for exemplary service and quality food. Not just because...
TLDR - DON'T GO HERE if you know anything about food or bbq. Save your money, buy a smoker and cook it yourself, you'll have a better experience! Shame really as I was quite excited to go, we certainly won't be returning and if they don't improve I hope others don't too.
Thanks for the leftover meat, I've added it to a chilli and created an actually tasty meal. Oh and the other photo is what a smoked short rib looks like with a smoke ring and...
