Marmaris Turkish Restaurant — Restaurant in Nottingham

Came here for the first time a few days ago for dinner, the overall vibe was a little chaotic, especially front of house. We were sat at a table near the toilets and it had food all over the floor and seating, the table was not properly wiped down. Upon ordering our food, as soon as we started to speak Turkish, the server was very rude when we asked about a menu item and claimed the item was not available to order (we later found out the owners and some of the members of staff were not Turkish, so maybe just stick to speaking English here).

We ended up just ordering a platter for two along with drinks. We waited about 30 minutes for our food and we didn’t get our drinks until we asked where our drinks were when the server arrived with our food. They gave us a complimentary bottle of water to make up for the delay, it was nice but not necessary.

The food was a BIG MISS, definitely not the authentic Turkish food they claim. The bread that came as an appetiser was shop bought and cold. With the platter the “bread” that came with it was actually tortilla bread sliced and drizzled with oil and seasoning, not nice at all. The chicken wings were good but the doner meat and shish kebab wasn’t, particularly the lamb doner and chicken shish, it was very stale and dry.

We paid £30 altogether, but won’t be coming again.

Visited on the July 1st 2017, Restaurant was busy around 8:30-9pm, and around 3-5 staff were serving, after about 10 minutes waiting at entrance,we were asked to sit down by the waitress, she then took our order and brought drinks and basket of bread and mint yoghurt dip, our food took over 40 minutes to arrive at table and when was delivered was missing one main meal and side order, had to wait another 20 minutes for the rest of food.

No apologies and staff didn't have a clue of whom ordered what. Tables around us had the same kind of issues, and one table even didn't get they food, because the waiting staff had lost they order and they were waiting for nearly an hour.

We asked for our bill and only then were told that card payments was not accepted and that I had to go to a Cashpoint get the money, wife told waitress that if possible that in the future, she could advise customers that it was cash only payments before taking orders, my wife then was greeted with disrespectful manner, rudeness and appalling attitude by the waitress, and she asked for a descriptive receipt was given the excuse, that the machine didn't work and more verbal abuse, manager arrived and we asked for a receipt and we were showed another tables bill, and still no apologies .

Asked if he was going to deal with the verbal abuse by his staff, she basically just ignored us.

Never again. In my opinion that business operates evading tax and pay staff cash in hand. Dodge owners .

Went to his resteraunt few time when it first opened and was so impressed with food and service very good and hopsitable nature of staffand amazing food at good portion sizes.

However recently went for dinner and brunch in same week food has not changed and is amazing but service is awful! Especially on waitress tall slim who cannot smile kept rolling her eyes at is ignored is at breakfast over counter when i was calling her for service. Very nonchalant behaviour which is not good from a restaurant waiter. At the dinner we had we also experinced being give 3 sauces give as standard with bread after ordering food with no choice given but when we asked for a specific dip we were told we would be charged extra 2.50 for this as we had already had 3! I thought this was cheeky as no other restaurant treats customers like this in my experience! We were given no choice for a start! Also i over heard staff speaking over counter with a waitress about another customer and pne chef saying “we ar not a charity” this made me very uncomfortable! I know produce prices are expensive and they’re providing good food but come on service cant be so bad its not like we are not paying good money to go out and eat at places where you feel we are getting treated like beggars!
