I and a whole Bulgarian group were there a week ago. We use the second floor for our meeting of at least 20 people. We had a great time until we have been accused of stealing if 8 whiskey glasses. Being Bulgarian doesn't mean we are thefts. Being Bulgarian doesn't mean you can accuse us freely. Being Bulgarian doesn't mean that you have to count your glasses and throw them it our faces. Being Bulgarian doesn't mean that you can get away with this freely. This is ridiculous and we want your apology to our group who came to have fun in your nasty pub. This is ugly, unprofessional, and way far from how to run a business. Counting 8 glasses is way far from any normal thing in the world. Even we in Bulgaria don't count glasses, especially accusing customers before you ask your unlawful staff. Ugly scenes like this need a proper apology and we want all of our money back from this evening as an apology for your unprofessional accusations. Find a way to apologize to 20 of your customers for bringing these ugly accusations to our daily normal routines and disturbing our peaceful life. Ridiculous behaviour from this place where you find it much easier to accuse another race than researching deeply if your unlawful and unprofessional staff. Ridiculous and ugly! WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK. If you can count 8 glasses for 6 hours drinking and using your services, so you can count how much we spent for the whole evening and give us the...
Read moreThey were out of the only gluten free main on the menu (now that the fish and chips recipe has changed) so my only option was to get a starter (chicken tenders) and a side (cheesy chips). These were labelled as gluten free on the menu but clearly werenât given my coeliac reaction to them (Iâll spare you the details). The chips were nice enough and the chicken tenders were mediocre so it was a pretty miserable meal to be glutened by. The bartender helping us figure out what I could eat was lovely and had to run back and forth to the kitchen as their allergy information was out of date bless him. Thankfully there was a selection of boardgames we could play while we waited for the disappointing food and could see someone at a nearby table eating the last âgfâ chicken schnitzel lol
EDIT: I canât reply to the comment left by the owner but your email doesnât exist (not with .com or .co.uk as you said and as your...
Read moreHad a private Christmas function at this pub and it was very good overall. The food was tasty, well presented and for a 3 course meal it was reasonably priced. They had a Christmas menu and I had the smoked salmon, roast turkey then the lemon cheesecake. Would strongly recommend this but there are plenty of other meals that may take your fancy.
With most Oxford pubs drinks are pricey but the St Aldates Tavern has a good selection of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. With its location it's not flooded by loads of footfall, rowdy people and the average Oxford nightlife that is on Queen or Cornmarket Street.
The pub looks like a traditional public house with a rustic feel. However due to that it's not a spacious pub but it does have a cozy atmosphere to it. The only issue I had was the service, of course they prioritised the bar downstairs for the local punters but it did mean that the service upstairs...
