George and Danver in Oxford is a delightful place to indulge in ice cream and other delectable treats. Located in a charming corner of the city, this ice cream parlor offers a range of flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. While the prices may be slightly higher than average, the quality of their ice cream is undeniably top-notch, making it worth the occasional splurge. Whether you're looking for a quick dessert fix or a leisurely snack, George and Danver provides a perfect setting. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the ice cream, available in an impressive array of flavors that cater to every palate. From classic favorites like vanilla and chocolate to more adventurous options like lemon meringue or mojito, there's something for everyone. l But it's not just the ice cream that makes George and Danver stand out. Their menu boasts an impressive selection of desserts, food, and drinks. If you're in the mood for something other than ice cream, you'll find an enticing range of options to choose from. Whether you prefer indulging in a decadent cake, or sipping on a floatie, the menu caters to various sweet cravings. Apart from the desserts, George and Danver also offer a delightful selection of bagels that have earned quite a reputation. Bite into their freshly baked bagels, which come with an assortment of fillings to satisfy your hunger and taste buds. Whether you fancy a savory bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon or a more traditional option with butter and jam, their bagels are sure to leave you impressed. The friendly staff adds to the overall charm of the place, providing attentive and welcoming service. They are more than happy to help you navigate the menu and provide recommendations based on your preferences. Overalls a unique spot in Oxford that’s worth a visit.

I'm not sure what's changed at this Oxford institution! This used to be an amazing place to visit, amazing coffee, amazing food, amazing ice cream and it was clean and had friendly staff. I visited today and ordered a Regular Mocha. There was only one member of staff who were very grumpy. The mocha was served in a disposable cup when previously it was a ceramic one and was tiny! When did the sizes change? The mocha itself tasted horrible - it was grainy and bitter. I left it. The table was sticky so moved to a window seat and the surface was sticky again. It was over everything as if it hadn't been cleaned. I went to the loo downstairs, and was shocked to see the kitchen door propped open with a fire extinguisher and showed the floor covered in what looked like seeds and dirt (??) The toilet was very dirty around and under the seat and needed a good scrub. I was going to order some food but decided it wasn't worth trying. G&D's on the Cowley Road was the opposite of this experience last week with such a good vibe, friendly staff, great bagels and yummy coffee.

Dirty cutlery & rude Never left a negative review before but felt it necessary for this place Sign in window saying cash only, always suspicious of these kind of food outlets anyway went in made our order for 7 of us, attempted to pay using paper 20 pound notes, server initially took them and was about to put them in the till, then for some reason, maybe the makeup of our party ? decided she wasn't going to accept them. First she said they were no longer legal tender and nowhere would accept them and we would need to get them exchanged at the bank. Explained to her that this was not the case and everywhere accepts them as have not been withdrawn, offered to Google it for her to prove it. Then she decides its company policy not to take them just because she didn't want to accept them, was not happy with this or the attitude but as we already had half our order in our hands dug deep and was lucky that had enough change to pay for everything , Sat down, kids had ice cream, were happy enough apart from the Oxford blue which apparently tasted of nothing Ordered waffles which we had to wait for, Undercooked and overpriced for what we had, maybe half a small scoop of ice cream on top, not what you would expect for the most expensive thing on the menu Then we looked at the cutlery, big blob of congealed something on the fork, asked for another, also something on there, had to rummage around the cutlery pot to finally find us one that was clean. Not what you expect in...

We had such a lovely visit to G and D’s today. My youngest had her heart set on an ice lolly, but of course, it’s an ice cream shop — so when she couldn’t spot any at the counter, she was seconds away from tears.

The wonderful staff member behind the counter came up with the most thoughtful solution: she offered a taste of the mango sorbet and gently suggested it was quite similar to an ice lolly in texture and flavour. It worked like magic — my daughter was delighted. That was such a creative idea to come up with on the spot. THANK YOU.

She also kindly offered my eldest a taste of the flavour she was eyeing, just to make sure she’d like it before committing. It was such a small gesture, but one that made a huge difference. Anyone with young kids knows how picky they can be, and this made things so much smoother for all of us.

Without going into details, today was quite an important day for us — the children had a lot on, and we were just so happy to end our outing not only with delicious ice cream but with kindness and care from the lovely staff and crew. Thank you for making it feel so easy and special. I would highly recommend for any one but also highlight how child friendly this place is. In the busyness of being a mum, I didn’t think in the moment to leave a tip — but I really wish I had. I’ll definitely pop back in to leave one, just to say thank...
