I’ve ended up here by accident. I planned to come here, but not on a Sunday. I don’t like roasts. I find they are usually not worth the price and under seasoned. Maybe that’s a lifetime of living in London. But, life gets in the way and I’m here now looking at the menu and I couldn’t decide between the pork and the turkey. Pork is usually a winner but who doesn’t fancy a Xmas dinner. I chose pork with a beef croquette as a side. The fit out of this venue is beautiful very well thought out. Everywhere you look is something interesting / pretty. The space is multi level but not multi floors, kinda like an ant farm or rabbit warren. The roast came out and the next minute of my life was filled with wonder and excitement I have not felt since I was a child at the circus. The pork was put down in front of me on one plate with some super crispy potatoes, a Yorkshire pud and a puree that had the sweetness of parsnip. Then the carrots are put in front of me on their own plate. The greens on a different plate. The cauliflower cheese on another one. A dipping bowl of apple compote. And a gravy jug. Plus the plate with my croquettes. It was like a clown car. A seemingly endless supply of food coming off my waitress’ tray. It was such an impressive display that a table of 4 sitting near me outside decided to order food after seeing it all. This place is good and I have the completely burned mouth to prove it. They warned me it was hot, but I could not help myself. The pork is tender, well seasoned and the crackling might be worth your first born child (go on, you’ve got spares). Every single side was worthy on its own. And the croquettes were a dalliance of textures and flavours. The staff were friendly and helpful even though it was very busy and through the card machine not working outside. ————— I am back for a second go, to test the waters and see if this place was a one hit wonder or their sophomore album is just as good. But I am here on a normal day. Not on Sunday roast. Now the quandary. Do I get a burger, or the pork belly. On one hand I can get a burger anywhere, and pork belly is less frequent so the overall enjoyment of my life might be enhanced. On the other hand the pork roast was so good it feels inevitable that the pork belly will pale in comparison. I decided on the three course meal, of which the burger was not an option. Course 1 - Humus & chorizo. There is a nice citrus kick in the hummus that cuts through the richness of the hummus and chorizo. It was texturally a bit grittier than I had hoped but we’re grasping at straws here. The flavour was very good. Course 2 - Pork belly. The pork belly was a bit under rendered. It was lovely. But no comparison to the Sunday roast. That was perfectly rendered. With crackling. The regular lunch, was crackle-lacking. It was well seasoned and enjoyable but I find myself scrolling through the photos of the Sunday roast like a hot ex-girlfriend. Thinking of what could have been. That being said, the chips and sauce that come with lunch, far exceed the potatoes from the roast. Course 3 - Brownie. The size was disappointing but the fastest way to turn that around is with taste and this did not disappoint. The brownie was soft, warm and fudgy. The quail egg scoop of ice cream atop it allowed a creamy texture to fill each bite after the supplied jug of sauce is applied. For what might be the first time, in a long time, I have no idea what the sauce is. There is a caramelised toffee taste and some grit within that tastes of caramelized sugar. If I had to describe it in 3 words - sticky toffee chocolate. As a final note, CHECK YOUR BILL. I did not, and upon reflection a 3 course meal was £26 with all tap beer half off, I had 3. Even if each beer was £8 that puts my total at £38. I added 20% tip cause the waiter was very attentive. We’re now just over £45. But my bill was £55… I’m not saying they ripped me off or there was a mistake, but if not the beer was very expensive.

I highly recommend Salumi restaurant to anyone seeking a remarkable dining experience. Salumi truly provides an outstanding dining experience. The steak night was a delightful culinary journey, and the staff's attentiveness and kindness towards our little one added a heartwarming touch to the evening. The quality of the food was exceptional, leaving a lasting impression on our palates. I also had the best cheesecake ever! The portions served were generous, ensuring that guests leave the restaurant fully satisfied. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere throughout the meal. Undoubtedly, Salumi stands out as one of the best restaurants in town, offering a combination of exceptional food, welcoming ambiance, and excellent service. I've also heard other customers saying that they experienced their best meal in a long time. This reinforces the restaurant's reputation as a must-try establishment in the culinary scene. The availability of ample parking space outside further enhances the convenience of the dining experience. The overall excellence, from the exceptional food to the warm atmosphere and attentive staff, make it a standout choice for those looking to indulge in a memorable and enjoyable culinary adventure.

Genuinely unbelievable restaurant!

This place is an absolute gem and tucked away almost to the point of obscurity. We came to deliver some training in Plymouth and after a late finish we made our way out looking for sustenance. A little green door on the side of the road beckoned and we entered with some misplaced trepidation. Deceptively large on the inside we were welcomed by a waitress named Maggie who asked if we had a table booked. Answering "no", Maggie informed us that there was no tables available due to a shortage of staff that evening. We made a reservation for the following evening but then we're approached by Alfie, the owners son, whom asked what we were looking for food wise. We explained that after a six hour drive and an hour of setting up the training room at the hotel, we would gladly take anything. Graciously, he took pity on us and said we could take a table and they would make the effort to accommodate. Wise choice, as we were soon to discover. Never have we visited a place for the first time and been made so welcome, even in our home town restaurants. The atmosphere was so relaxing, the staff were absolutely fantastic, helpful and caring. The food that we ordered was cooked to perfection and the dessert was purely scintillating. I literally cannot recommend this place highly enough and I can genuinely say that when we leave here on Sunday morning (after having spent three of our five evenings at the restaurant), we are absolutely going to miss the staff, the food and the atmosphere here. Should you ever be visiting Plymouth, please do not miss out on this warm, welcoming, culinary delight that is in a class of its own. Salumi restaurant is a shining beacon in the restaurant industry of how to treat customers and the standard and quality of food you should be serving. Absolute congratulations and a massive well done to Alfie, Maggie and the rest of the team for making Salumi's such a welcoming and authentic delight. Great job guys, we will be back whenever we are...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic restaurant where I enjoyed the classic English Sunday roast. The meal was absolutely delicious, with perfectly cooked meat, crispy roast potatoes, and a generous serving of vegetables. The gravy was rich and flavorful, tying all the elements together beautifully. It truly felt like a hearty, home-cooked meal.

The restaurant itself was very well set up and immaculately clean. The decor was tasteful and created a warm, inviting atmosphere that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. It was clear that the management places a high emphasis on cleanliness and creating a pleasant environment for their guests.

The staff were incredibly efficient and well-organized. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with friendly smiles and prompt service. The workers moved seamlessly between tables, ensuring that everyone was well taken care of without any noticeable delays. Their professionalism and attention to detail were impressive, making the dining experience smooth and enjoyable.

Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my visit. The combination of delicious food, a well-maintained and clean environment, and exceptional service made for a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional English Sunday roast or simply a great meal in a...
