2025: I am lucky enough to be working here again and this is still an amazing find. Tonight I was welcomed back like an old friend. The food remains fabulous. The wine delicious. Still a 5 star experience if you are looking for an off the beaten track independent Portuguese experience. 2024:One of my favourite restaurants. I travel a lot with work and this is a really amazing find. The restaurant is authentically themed Portuguese with a friendly Portuguese family running it. One of the first things you notice is how happy the staff are, although I don't understand Portuguese I can tell the banter is alive!
I arrived at 8pm on Tuesday and was seated immediately in their large restaurant. The restaurant is barely visible from the front but the building is like a tardis, once you step inside the size of the place and the authenticity open up before your eyes. On this occasion I had Tuna with chips and salad, previously I had a seafood and rice dish (see photos) called Cateplana. On both occasions the food was perfectly cooked and the portions are phenomenal. I'd say that you should arrive hungry and expect to leave complete! I had the Tuna, salad and chips (14.5) half carafe (50cl) of red wine for 9. Previously, Cateplana for 22, Lg glass of red 6.5. Both excellent value. I look forward to...

I came for lunch around 2 on a Sunday. The service was unbearably slow. Not your typical slow either. For context as a table we ordered a tuna steak and a 'speciality' item on the menu (a sort of baked sandwich) and we waited - drumroll please - 45 minutes!
Now after such a wait I wasn't feeling charitable at the best of times, but if the food at least justified the wait I'd have left not feeling too perturbed. However, it did not.
I'll start with the easy one to pick flaws in, the tuna steak was dry. Flavoursome, but dry.
The sandwich. Oh the sandwich. What an ill conceived mess of a meal that was. Of course, the restaurant can't be faulted for sticking to an authentic recipe. But a soggy, over salted sandwich drenched in broth with some steak as hard as old boots in the middle isn't something I'd be particular interested in serving if I was them, or ordering again if I ever find myself here again (which after that meal is rather unlikely really)
All in all when you combine the staggering wait times for literally everything, drinks, food and even the check...its hard to really recommend the place, or give it more than a...
Read moreWent to Plymouth as a work trip, and was looking for Portuguese food to win brownie points with my Portuguese girlfriend.
Went here on the recommendation of colleagues and wasn't disappointed, the place is authentic Portuguese and the staff are very hospitable.
I ended up visiting this place 3 times. I tried the Rissois, and can't explain to you how good the meat ones were.
Next i tried the chirrausco- peri peri chicken and chorizo. Loved this dish, was typical authentic Portuguese with the fried egg, rice and fries.
Finally i tried the Francesinho sandwich. I can't explain to you how much you need to try this. This is meat heaven and will open your mind to a new dish. Melted cheese over white bread with different types of meat in a tomato beer sauce. Its definitely heavy but worth a try, like once a year so you don't end up with a heart...
