Rhubarb & Mustard — Restaurant in Plymouth

We are trying different cafes in Plymouth that we haven’t been to before and went to this one based on the positive reviews:

Pros Easy enough to park in the Pavilion car park and it’s just over the road Food delicious and fresh Has a brunch menu and separate lunch menu Coffee is excellent Good prices Clean Food really nicely presented

Cons Cafe doesn’t have a cosy feel - it feels more like a place you would visit for meals to go . Door was left open to air presumably ? but miserable day so cold The person who served us wasn’t particularly welcoming, she seemed irritated when a question was asked about the menu. Maybe she was having an off day or wasn’t aware how she came across but we didn’t feel welcome.

Made a reservation at 1115. They aren’t aren’t serving food at that time. The greeting employee asked what they could do for us in a manner that suggested we were not welcome and they had no intention of serving us. When I answered, they condescendingly said, “ we stopped serving breakfast at 11. We don’t serve lunch until 12. This is all we have.” Then walked off. We wanted something easy like a soup or pastry. What a go to spot. It’s impossible to visit once. There are a few places in the city I will happily go out of my way to treat myself at- and for lunch and coffee this is high on the list. How somewhere makes a signature cheese toastie quite so epic is beyond me. Legitimate understanding of flavour! Paired with decent coffee and a service level that is friendly, professional and welcoming - why would you head there now. A place that will easily become your regular and for me, all the food looks great but the grilled cheese is...
