Delicious fresh food served daily at The Boathouse Plymouth! #freshfish #seafoodrestaurant #plymouth

Had lunch here, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Really excellent seafood my wife started with the garlic king prawns, l had the scallop with black pudding. Both were really good especially as my scallops still had their roe sacks. For main we had monkfish fillets my wife’s with garlic butter mine with lemon butter and capers. Very generous portions and beautiful prepared by Tegan and Matt. The only downside is if you sit out on the veranda you are expected to order through an app. Fortunately because of my wife’s coeliac condition and dietary requirements the lovely Jess came and took our order at the table. All in all a really great place to eat with views across the harbour .

Such a shame! Have come here on a number of occasions and really enjoyed, however not today the teapots were absolutely disgusting and the milk jug had a huge chip in the glass. We mentioned this to the lady serving us how dirty they were and she said "we are in the middle of sorting that out" not sure what that was supposed to mean. I did say all they need is a good clean and her reply was that she does not do the dishes. We were never asked if we would like a replacement with clean teapots and was charged £4.50 for the tea which we could not drink. Will not be returning here in a hurry.

The worst place ever, don't go there !!! The girl who welcomes customers does not have a minimum knowledge of good manners! Arrived at this horrible restaurant, we asked for a table. The girl makes us sit down and leaves without leaving any menu. As soon as I moved the chair to sit, I noticed that it was full of crumbs. I sit at the table and see that it had been clearly laid without having been cleaned, as it was full of sticky stains due to some previously spilled drinks. I mention this to the waitress and ask if it would be possible to clean the table. The girl answers me with an annoyed gesture, she says yes and leaves. Without ever going back to clean the table. After a while we are handed the menus, we decide to take fish and chips and two starters. After twenty minutes, 3 starters arrive instead of two. (bad quality / price ratio, excessive price for the quantity and quality of food sold). After more than 3/4 of an hour of waiting, we were still waiting for our fish and chips. We ask the waitress if the wait was still long, because in that case, we wanted to cancel the order. She replies that soon they would be ready and, if we were in a hurry to leave, we could have fish and takeaway chips. We answer that if the fish and chips were ready in a few minutes we would have eaten them on the spot. Finally our fish and chips arrived, but there was a problem, they had brought them to the table packed to take away. At this point, as hungry as we were, we decided to eat them at the table in the take-out package. No tartar sauce was provided as described on the menu. We arrive now at the worst point of this lunch, after having waited almost an hour for fish and chips with a semi-empty restaurant, the fish and chips were inedible. The fish and chips were dry and rotten, cooked in a horrendous oil full of remains of other charred foods. At this point we decide that it was enough and went to ask for the bill complaining about the mishap written above. In all this, during the wait I was able to observe how unhygienic this place was. The cooks wiped their nose on their own hands as they cooked. Disgusting. After complaining about all this mess, the manager was able to offer us only a 20% discount. Absurd. They will never see me again, all they can see of me in the future will be my bad...

My partner asked about the fish fingers shape to the owner/manager, he was very cocky and quite rude in his reply and my partner is not one to complain! My daughter is autistic so she can be funny about shapes and oddities. His words were “no offence but it’s a fish finger”!! Obviously when it came out, it was shaped nothing like a uniformed fish finger! Sometimes just have a bit patience and think to why someone might be asking the question!!

We were sat indoors and then they decided to open the blind above our heads so we had to sit indoors with our sunglasses on! We then moved tables to avoid the direct sunlight.

I had fish and chips. Fish was very greasy, straight out of the pan and on to my chips. When I moved the fish, the chips were saturated in grease.

My daughter had mussels but in her broth was a blue piece of plastic. The staff were very good to be fair and gave us a £7.50 deduction at the end.

All the staff were good apart from the owner, must be the owner, only someone who owned the business could be that cocky! Best thing he can do, is stay quiet and out of sight really and rely on his staff to make him money.

Very expensive, £20 for fish and chips. Portion size was even smaller than last time we went last year!

My partner and other daughter enjoyed their mussels.

I suppose if you’re into more rare dishes such as mussels etc which you don’t find at just any restaurant, then give them a try but if it’s fish and chips or something fairly standard which you’re going to order, you can get the same size portion at Morrisons cafe or other places a lot cheaper and they’re less than half the price and I enjoyed it just as much!

People don’t have money to throw around. To sum up, this isn’t fine dining. It’s just above average quality but at a cost. I would only go again if I was after something particularly fishy as it’s their speciality as a...

Visiting the cafe with our toddler we ordered our lunch but then waited for over 45 minutes before speaking to a waitress to ask if we'd been forgotten. Upon returning from the kitchen she informed us that our food order had somehow been lost between the till and the kitchen. We then had to wait a further 10 minutes for the food to arrive, however the order was incomplete as they had forgotten our little girl's slider burger. We then had to wait a further 5 minutes for her order to be ready. By this stage we had already been in the cafe for an hour with a hungry toddler. The food itself was nice, as it usually is, however things didn't end there. My girlfriend found that the ham in her ham, egg and chips dish came with cling film attached! We showed this to the waitress and she went off to speak to the manager. She returned and was very apologetic, offering us a free dessert as a goodwill gesture. However we declined as we didn't have time by this point to hang around to eat it. After turning down the offer I expected to be offered an alternative - maybe a partial refund or voucher for our next visit. Neither of these were forthcoming so we left after a very unsatisfactory experience. This is a shame as in the past we have enjoyed good service and food at The Boathouse Cafe, however we won't be returning for a considerable...
