Without doubt the best pub food I've had in Plymouth. I had the Mackerel Pate with warm bread and onion chutney as a starter which was a good size, presented beautifully and tasted fantastic. For main I had the tray baked short crust steak and ale pie with creamy mash and seasonal vegetables with gravy, and I went for the stilton extra, and oh my god, the portion was generous and a taste to die for. My partner only managed half until I said to try the separate pot of gravy, at which point she started again. Would loved to have tried the deserts but all but had one carried out as it was. Absolutely fantastic selection of beers, ciders, wines and spirits. The landlady is absolutely lovely and works as hard if not harder than anyone. I'm so sorry I didn't take pics of the food but when it arrived I just dived in and couldn't stop. Went on a Monday night expecting it to be quiet, not at all when we arrived it was almost full. You can see from my pics it was quite late when I took them and the pub had thinned out. Cannot recommend highly enough. If you like really good, home cooked, well presented fresh food then this is a must. Will be back in the next couple of days and cannot wait. Highly recommended... Back again, sorry I went for just the main but will remember to take pics and post this time. Most...

Came here with friends. Everyone had a roast dinner. There was a choice of turkey, beef, lamb or gammon. I chose lamb. It was served as very fine slices. Sides of (a very cheesy) cauliflower cheese & creamed leeks was optional. They were generous with the portion sizes and they do homemade yorkshire puddings. You definitely won't leave hungry! There was a variety of desserts. The warm sticky toffee pudding was 'close your eyes' good.

The service was good and not too long a wait. The only thing that would have been nice would be to have the option to have a mixed meat plate rather than having to stick to one choice (with the option to add on 1 more at additional cost) but not a deal breaker. The prices were reasonable overall. They are also welcoming to pets and children. They also have a baby change facility.

If you're just there for drinks they have a nice variety of beer, real ale & ciders along with the usual bottled hardcore stuff. They also have a nice quirk of sweet dispensers if youre in the mood for some jelly beans or mini chocolate eggs. They also have a great decor but I won't spoil the suprise with pictures of that, but you must see it for yourself :)

I would recommend this place and hope to be back at some...

First time back since covid - Had to pre-order as party of eleven. A Lot of the menu contains pork products (Chorizo & Bacon) which is a no for me. We sat at the table and then where asked if we wanted the starters to be bought out? No one ordered starters with the preorder so we initially said no to starters but then quickly changed our minds to have some garlic bread for the table to be told no we couldn't have any! So our pre ordered food order came out Fish & chips, Scampi, Chicken supreme, pie and a curry. We had ordered a smaller plate of scampi for a 90 year old and when the plate was brought over it was said to be a childs portion small would have been suffiicient as there where no children at the table. Me and my other half had the Fish & chips and Steak & chips. To eat the fish normally my other half dosent have to add pepper and for me the Steak wasn't special and the onion ring wasn't argent! The chips looked nice but had a greasey taste (very odd). One of our party had brought a cake which a staff member did bring out and they changed the music just before that was s lovely touch We asked if cream was possible and was greated by its £2.50 - which again was lovely - so wanted to give this...
